One evening last July, my old car broke down on a highway. It was an hour before sunset, and.I was 25 miles from home.I couldn't reach anyone to pick me up, so I decided to take a bus.

After a while, a bus pulled up and I asked the driver how far she was going.“Four more lights,”she said. She dropped me off at the end of her routes and told me which bus to look for. After waiting 30 minutes, I began to think about a very expensive taxi ride home. Then a bus pulled up and the door opened.

  “I just can't leave you here,”she said.“I'll give you a ride home.”

“You'll drive me home in the bus?”I asked, confused.

“No, I'll take you in my car,”she said.

  “It's a long way,”I answered.

“Come on, sir,”she said.“I have nothing else to do.”

On the way, she told me a story.A few days earlier, her brother had run out of gas.A good Chinese man had picked him up, taken him to a gas station and then back to his car.“I'm just passing the favor along,”she said.

  When I offered her money as a thank-you, she wouldn't accept(接受)it.“That wouldn't make it a favor,”she said.“Just do something nice for somebody.”Pass it along.

In late April, 33-year-old Li Yang climbed into her new car, Suzuki Alto and headed west. She“just kept going to see how far I could get by myself.”Six days and 2,575 kilometers later, she arrived in Lhasa, the Tibetan capital.Happy and tired, she wrote an article and put it on the Internet after she had a good sleep, talking about her travel experience to Lhasa with photos.

As people become richer and richer, new car prices are falling down quickly, and the government builds new ways, many Chinese people think it is enjoyable to have their own cars instead of bicycles. The large number of cars has started a new cultural revolution(革命), changing the life and society just like what happened in America 50 years ago.

In Shanghai, more and more cars have appeared on the roads since 2002.At rush hour, a taxi ride from one side of Huangpu River to the other can take more than an hour.Although the government has done a lot to make the traffic condition better and prevent more traffic accidents from happening, the number of cars on the roads is multiplying(成倍的增加).

Private cars have brought about a new class of society, who drive to their offices from large, modern homes in the suburbs(郊區(qū)).“I enjoy the drive,”says a big company manager, of the 30-minute-trip to his office in the centre of Shanghai.“I know the cost of driving is much higher than travel by bus,”he said.“But this way, I feel more comfortable and it is much faster.”

I wonder whether there is any girl or boy who does not like to see a rainbow in the sky. It is so beautiful.
There is a story, saying that whenever you see a rainbow you should run at once to the place where it touches the ground, and there you would find a pot of gold. Of course it is not true. You could not find the pot of gold or its end. No matter how far you run, it always seems far away.
A rainbow is not a thing which we can feel with our hands as we can feel a flower. It is only the effect of light shining on raindrops. The raindrops catch the sunlight and break it up into all the wonderful colours which we see. It is called a rainbow perhaps because it is made up of raindrops and looks like a bow(弓).
That is why we can never see a rainbow in a clear sky. We see a rainbow only when there is rain in the air and the sun is shining brightly through the clouds.
Every rainbow has many colours in the same order. The first or the top colour is always red, and the next comes orange, then yellow, and last of all, blue. A rainbow is indeed one of the wonders of nature.

Santi's big brother Len had told him never to push all the remote control buttons at the same time. He said that something terrible would happen if he did. Santi didn't really believe this. While Len was out of the room, Santi jumped down on the sofa with the remote control in his hand. For a while, he changed from channel to channel, looking for something interesting to watch. Bored, Santi decided to see what Len could have meant.
With a quick glance(掃視) over his shoulder to make sure Len hadn't come back,he pushed all the buttons at once. Santi saw a bright flash, and he dropped the remote control. "I've broken it,"he thought. "Now I'm in trouble!" As he looked around for the remote control,he realized he was in more trouble than he'd thought. He was suddenly only the size of a mouse.
"Oh,no!"Santi shouted. He had to find his parents quickly. Carefully, he climbed down the side of the huge sofa and hurried across the floor. In the kitchen, Santi could see that the sliding door(滑門) had been left open. “If the door is open, then the cat might be in here,” tiny Santi said.
