　 陶元淳，字子師，江蘇常熟人�？滴踔信e博學鴻詞，以疾不與試。二十七年，成進士，廷對，論西北賦輕而役重，東南役均而賦重，愿減浮額之糧，罷無益之費。閱者以其言戇，置二甲。
　　三十三年，授廣東昌化知縣，到官，首定賦役，均糧于米，均役于糧。裁革雜徵，自坊里供帳始，相率以力耕為業(yè)�？h隸瓊州，與黎為界，舊設土舍，制其出入，吏得因緣為奸，元淳立撤去。一權量，定法度，黎人便之。城中居人，舊不滿百家，至此戶口漸蕃。元淳時步行閭里間，周咨疾苦，煦嫗如家人。
