The South China Sea Islands which are about 164.74 k㎡, are made up of the East Sand Islands, the West Sand Islands, the Middle Sand Islands, the South Sand Islands and the Yellow Rock Island.

The South China Sea Islands lie in the place where the shipping ways meet between the Pacific and the Indian oceans. And they are very important to not only for transportation but also for national defense(國(guó)防).
