As I was finishing seventh grade, my school decided to make some changes because of financial
(財政)problems. The school would make the classes bigger,so there could be fewer teachers. We
needed to write down the names of all my close friends.
I found out that none of my close friends were in any of my new classes. Also, my new classmates
were quite different from my old ones. I thought they weren’t as smart as my old classmates. They also
weren’t in the school activities I was in. I couldn’t find common interests with them .
As the year went on, I began to feel lonely and envy people in other groups. Why could they be with
all their friends? As I found out, they didn't have many friends at first. They had made new friends in their
new classes. They seemed pretty happy with their new friends.
I decided it was time for me to make new friends. I noticed that the people with many friends were
very active. They often talked to others first, while I was too scared to talk to others and hoped other
people would talk to me first.
Once I realized that, I found that making friends is very easy if you can accept people for who they
are, respect them, and talk to them. Now I feel a lot happier because I have more friends.

Tony: These days, the word "clone" has been seen very often in the newspapers. Do you know
          its meaning?
Lana: I read a report. It said that Dr. Ian Wilmut successfully cloned a lamb named Dolly from
a grown-up sheep. So people call him the "father" of Dolly.
Tony: In fact, the word "clone" means to produce the "same" animal by taking cells from a
grown-up one. I think, if we know how to do cloning, we need only to keep a small number
         of sheep, cows or horses.
Lana: What's more, these days some people even want to clone humans. They have asked: Can
          we clone ourselves?
Tony: It seems interesting. But do you think it possible to do that?
Lana: No, impossible! First, I think we cannot clone a dead person, because the cells in his body
          are dead already.
Tony: Then can we clone a living person?
Lana: Again no! You might clone yourself one after another, but it is only a copy, not a real you.
It is only something, not a "human".
Tony: Well, you mean that it is not a real human.
Lana: True enough! I think Dr. Wilmut would most like to make better animals, and it has nothing
          to do with human cloning.
1. The word "clone" means ___________.
A. to give birth to a new life

C. Dr. Ian Wilmut takes care of Dolly like a father
D. Dr. Ian Wilmut has a daughter whose name is Dolly

Sometimes when the sun goes down, we can see another light in the sky. It's smaller than the sun,
and not so bright. It is the moon. We can also see many little stars. They're very bright at night.
You can't count the stars. There're too many of them. They're too far away. That's why they look
so small . Every star is like our sun. It has its own light.
The moon has no light of its own. The sun makes it bright. Then it can shine.
Do you know that the moon changes its shape ? Watch it for a few nights. It may look round. It's
the full moon. Then it may look smaller and smaller night after night. Soon it will be a half-moon. At last,
it will be only a curve (彎月) . After this comes the new moon. It will grow bigger until it's full again.
(     )1. The moon looks smaller than the sun.
