Clothing(服裝) is a language. We can look at the traditional clothing to know more about culure.
Africa has a long history and a rich culture, and this is shown in traditional dress. The three colours—red, gold and green, are often used in the clothing. The first colour represents the blood of millions of people who fought for freedom; the second, rich resources of the African earth; and the third, the grassland of home.
Because clothing has strong social meanings, people are very careful in choosing what to wear. It would be a serious mistake to wear the wrong clothes, or to dress in the wrong way. For example, in Ghana, a woman should wear her waistband (腰帶) differently according to the importance of the social event.
Traditional dress also tells us about everyday life. African designs are famous for loose (寬松的) clothing. The temperature there can be very high during the daytime but very low at night, so it requires that the clothes are comfortable for daily life.
Today although more and more young people like wearing Western clothes, especially in big cities in Africa, traditional African dress is still quite valuable. This is because it has deep cultural meanings.

【題目】 According to the world Happiness Report , people who live in Denmark(丹麥)are the happiest in the world . Why ? Because they know the secret to happiness-“hygge”. But what is “hygge” ?
The Danish (丹麥)word “hygge”(pronounced“hoo-ga”)is often translated in English as “coziness”. But coziness paints only part of the picture . It’s also about spending peaceful time in a quiet environment with no calendar . It’s about spending time alone or spending time with family.
Danish people are very good at “hygge” . For example , they create a “hygge” environment by burning candles in classrooms , kitchens , bedrooms , etc . According to some reports , Danish people burn more candles every year than people from any other European country .
However , “hygge” isn’t just about creating a nice and warm environment ; it is best enjoyed with family members and friends . 【題目】Having a teenager at home can be a real headache. Many teenagers smoke, wear strange hairstyle and even fight. Basically (基本上) , they are often taking risks.
Earlier studies have shown that teenagers are more likely to makeirrationaldecisions than people from any other age group, including children and adults. Is it that teenagers are too young to tell right from wrong? Not really. So what’s the reason?
According to Laurence, a teacher from a US university, the reason is that teenagers care a lot about how their peers (同齡人) view them—that is “peer influence”.
As children enter their teenage years, they spend more time with their friends and classmates, and also they care more about what they think of them. This makes teenagers make decisions without thinking about the costs.
In a test, a group of teenagers were asked to play a video driving game. When they played with their friends watching around them, they took more chances and drove more carelessly because that would increase their possibility of winning. But when they played alone, they drove more safely.
Why do peers have such a big influence on teens’ behavior?
As Laurence sees it, a teenager’s brain is like a car with a good accelerator (油門) but a weak brake (剎車). The “accelerator” is fully developed by teenage years while the “brake” is still not fully developed. When teenagers are watched by their peers, they usually push hard on the accelerator. With their weak brake, it is likely that they are going to end up in an accident. But the good news is that a violent (暴力的) teenager doesn’t necessarily become a violent adult. About two-thirds to three-quarters of violent youth grow out of it. “They get more self-controlled.”
【1】What does the underlined word “irrational” in the 2nd paragraph mean?

B.They don’t care about costs.

A.By using a metaphor (比喻).
B.By giving examples.
C.By presenting research findings.
D.By performing an in-depth analysis (分析).
【4】According to the text, with peers around them, teenagers tend to (傾向于) ______.
A.use more self-control
B.become more careful about what they do
C.perform better than when they are alone
