Last summer my family went to a National Park for a holiday and had an unusual experience, when we got there, we put up our tent and then went out to travel around, As we returned, I heard my sister Susan cry out and then we saw a bear enter our tent. I wanted my father to drive him away. My father said, “No, it’s dangerous to drive a bear away. And don’t let him follow you.” Susan said, “What shall we do? Maybe we should climb a tree.” I said, “No, we’ve got to get him out of there. He might go to sleep in our tent.” “Maybe we could make him leave if we put some honey outside for him to eat.” Susan said. Then my mother said, “How are you going to get the honey? It’s in the tent.” We watched the bear enter the tent and heard a lot of noise——it turned over everything inside. “It’s foolish for us to try to catch him,” said my father, “Leave him alone and wait for him to come out,” We waited and waited but the bear stayed inside. So we had to sleep in the car.

My name is Jenny. Last week I became a tourist (游客) guide for a day. Two friends, Mr. and Mrs. Moore arrived for a short holiday from Australia. It was their first visit to this part of the world. As my parents had to attend a cousin's wedding (堂兄的婚禮) , they asked me to take our two visitors around Singapore.
Early in the morning I took them round the island in a taxi. They enjoyed the trip down Nicoll Drive to Changi Beach. Later in the morning was stopped at the Tiger Balm Gardens, or Haw Par Villa as it is commonly called. They found the Gardens very interesting. I told them the history of the place and the Chinese legends (傳奇) behind the figures of stone. The sun was hot and we soon became very thirsty. For lunch we went back to the city. We had “tim-sum” at the Neptune Theatre Restaurant. They liked the food and said that it was the biggest restaurant they had seen. By the time I reached home, I was quite exhausted (疲倦).

While travelling abroad, Mr. Jackson Frank spent almost all the money he took with him. So he wrote his brother, asking for $ 500. “Send the money by telegram”, he wrote, “to the Fisher Bank in P…”
After a week he began calling at the Fisher Bank. He showed his passport. “Nothing has come for you.” He was told. This went on for two weeks, and Mr. Frank got very worried. He sent a telegram to his brother, but there was no reply.
