It’s easier to agree than disagree. The following tips(建議) can help keep disagreements constructive (建設(shè)性的).
Don’t make it personal.
If you get upset, it can help to remember that you’re mad at the person’s idea, not the person.
Never criticize the other person’s idea.
Instead of saying “That’s a stupid idea!”, try:“I don’t agree, and here’s why.” Never shout loudly and
you’ll have a much better chance of getting your idea across.
Use “I” statements to communicate how you feel and what you think.
Using “you” statements can sound argumentative (好爭論的). For example, telling your mom "You
always remind me about my chores when I have a lot of homework” has a very different tone (語氣)
from "I’m under pressure because I have a lot of homework tonight. Can I do those chores tomorrow?"
Listen to the other point of view.
When the other person is talking, try to stop thinking about why you disagree or what you’ll say next. Instead, focus on what’s being said. When it’s your turn to talk, repeat any key points the other person made to show you have paid attention to what was said. Then calmly express why you disagree.
Stay calm.
This is the most important thing you can do to keep a conversation go on well.

A.專注

A. Think about why we disagree.
B. Pay attention to what he’s saying.
C. Think about what we’ll say next.
D. Expresses our own idea to him.
3. Which is the right way to show that you disagree with someone?
A. I’m afraid I disagree with you.
B. Your idea sounds terrible.
C. You always ask me many questions.
D. Your idea is quite wrong.
4. How many tips does the writer list in the passage?

Have you seen Avatar(<阿凡達(dá)>)? It’s a popular 3D movie, and you may have to wear 3D glasses
to see it. The 3D glasses make the images(圖像)from the movie look as if they are coming straight at you.

More and more 3D movies are coming to theaters. Some say that 3D TV sets will come into our homes in the near future. Three-dimensional technology can make TV and movies more exciting. But people with eye problems may get headaches if they spend too much time watching 3D movies. Why?
When we look at an object(物體), each eye sees it at a different angle(角度). Our eyes send the two
images to our brain(大腦), and the brain puts them together. 3D technology uses two film projectors(投影機). One projects a left eye image and the other projects a right eye image. 3D glasses allow us to see a
different image in each eye. So, when we are watching a 3D movie, our brain can’t put together the images sent to our eyes. The brain needs to work harder at “reading” the images. That makes it easier for these
people to get dizzy(頭暈的) or develop headaches. A famous eye doctor said if your eyes can’t focus(聚焦) on the same object at once, you will have trouble watching 3D movies.
1. According to the passage, Avatar is a ______.
A. digital camera
B. digital TV set
C. 3D movie
2. The 3D glasses can make the images from the movie ______.
A. look more beautiful than usual
B. look as if they are coming straight at you
C. look as if they are far away from you
3. People will have ______ in their homes in the near future.
A. 3D computers
B. 3D phones
C. 3D TV sets
4. When we look at an object, ______.
A. each eye sees the object at the same angle
B. our brain puts the two different pictures together
C. there will be two film projectors in our eyes
5. If you wear a pair of 3D glasses, ______.
A. you will see different images in both eyes
B. Your brain can’t work at all
C. the images can be put together easily by your brain

Dear editor (編輯),
I live in a beautiful city. Many visitors come to my city. There are so many colorful peacocks
(孔雀) here.
The peacocks mostly live on the grass land of Dongfeng Square. They are given food freely
by visitors. They usually throw food to them, and don't think about at all whether the food is right
or not. Some of the peacocks became ill, some even died after eating the bad food given by the
visitors.
I'm sure most of the visitors who throw food to the peacocks really like the birds, but don't
realize that they may be doing them harm.
The visitors should be told that what they have done is very harmful to the birds, and this kind
of thing must be stopped from happening.
Perhaps we can build some small shops beside Dongfeng Square to sell peacock food. For us
every person, it is our duty to give more love to these beautiful birds and to look after them carefully.
