【題目】Margeaux Wolberg was sitting with the other 12-year-olds in her class when one of the girls turned to her and asked, "Is your mom dead?"

She never came to school like the other mothers to volunteer in the library or help the teachers. It was always Margeaux's dad who did that.

Margeaux reached for her computer, typed a few words into Google and showed her classmate a list of information with her mother's name and job titles, from CEO at Salesforce.com to her present role as vice-president of technology business operations at PayPal. "See, my mom's not dead," she said. "My mom's famous."

Kirsten Wolberg, 45, tells this story with pride. She is not trapped by an uneasy feeling these days when she has to miss a school play. Instead she is glad that her two daughters are growing up with such a strong role model: a woman in a high-powered job in Silicon Valley.

Long before neither of her kids was born, Wolberg and her future husband Michael had a talk about how they would divide household and childcare duties. "I said, 'Listen, one of the things that's really important to me is to have a parent at home full time, '" she remembers. "'And it can't be me.'"

Michael Wolberg, 43, worked for years for a medicine company. But when Margeaux was born, he offered to give up his job and became a stay-at-home dad. And he has never felt sorry for himself. Spending 12 hours a day alone with a child suits his personality better than an office, he says, and much better than it would ever suit his wife.

"She's spent many, many years trying to get to the place where she is and even further," he says, "and this lifestyle of cleaning the floor and changing diapers(尿片)and all kinds of other things are not for her."

1From the first three paragraphs we know that Margeaux felt .

A. sorry for her mother B. proud of her mother

2According to the passage, Kirsten .

A. finds it hard to get her kids' understanding B. is as successful in her career as her husband

C. feels sorry for not helping in her kids' school D. is glad to have set a good example to her kids

3Why did Michael choose to be a stay-at-home dad?

A. He was tired of his job.

B. He was forced to leave the job.

C. He is more suitable by nature to stay at home.

D. He and his wife reached an agreement after the kids' birth.

4From the passage we can learn that .

A. Kirsten can achieve greater success in her career

B. Kirsten is neither a good wife nor a qualified mother

C. Michael loves his kids better than his wife does

D. Michael regrets making the decision to stay at home

【題目】Sometimes I really doubt whether there is love between my parents. Every day they are busy trying to make money in order to pay for my schooling.

One day, my mother was repairing a quilt. I silently sat beside her and looked at her. “Mom, is there love between you and Dad?” I asked her in a very low voice. My mother stopped her work and looked at me in surprise. Then, she said, “Susan, look at this thread(). Sometimes it appears, but most of the time, it hides in the quilt. The thread really makes the quilt strong. If life is a quilt, then love should be a thread. It can hardly be seen anywhere or anytime, but it’s really there.”

I couldn’t understand her until the next spring. At that time, my father suddenly got sick seriously. My mother had to stay with him in the hospital for a month. When they returned from the hospital, my mother helped my father walk slowly on the country road every day. They were so kind to each other. But after two months my father still couldn’t walk by himself. I was so worried about him. “Dad, how are you feeling now?” I asked him one day. “Susan, don’t worry about me.” he said gently. “To tell you the truth, I just like walking with your mom. I like this kind of life.” Reading his eyes, I know he loves my mother deeply.

Now I understand that love is just a thread in the quilt of our life. Love is inside, making life strong and warm.

A. to buy strong quilts

B. to show their love

C. to send Susan to school

3Susan came to understand her mother .

A. after her father was seriously ill

4From the passage, we can learn that _________.

A. Susan’s father had been ill for two months

B. Susan doesn’t like her father

C. Susan’s parents love each other

5Which of the following could be the best title of the passage?

A. Seriously Sick Father

【題目】Could the students from less developed areas in central and western China get the same educational chances as those in big cities in the east? Could the children in poor rural (農(nóng)村) areas develop as well as those in rich cities? Maybe the answers were “No” in the past. But now, China is trying to change the situation.

In order to help rural students grow taller and stronger, China’s Nutrition (營養(yǎng)) Improvement Program started in 2011. According to the program, a lot more money was spent improving students’ meals. More than 36 million students from 134,000 primary and junior high schools in poor rural areas have benefited from the program. They are provided with healthy food like eggs and milk from Monday to Friday at school. And the result of a survey shows that the students in those areas are much taller and stronger than before.

It is true that there were differences between less developed areas and developed areas in education before. Recently, The Guideline for Popularizing High School Education (2017-2020) has come out. According to the guideline, above 90% students from all over the country will go to high schools by 2020. What’s more, the schools in central and western areas will get more support to improve their education.

Students from rural and poor areas also get more chances to receive higher education. A special college program makes it possible for more students from those areas to go to key (重點(diǎn)的) colleges and universities. The number will be increased by 10% in 2017.

With the guideline and the programs, we can expect a fairer and more balanced (均衡的) education in the future.

1The number of 134,000 in Paragraph 2 is the number of _______ in poor rural areas.

A. the key schools B. the poor students

C. the key colleges and universities D. the primary and junior high schools

2The underlined word “benefited” in Paragraph 2 means _______ in Chinese.

A. 逃離 B. 獲益 C. 受害 D. 賺錢

A. Liu Xi, a student from Chongqing, can go to any high school if she wants to

B. Li Mei, a student from a western rural school, can get a bag of milk every day

C. Hu Jia, a 12-year-old rural student, will more easily receive high school education
