Finally, studying abroad brings a heavy burden(負(fù)擔(dān)) to the family. For most Chinese parents, the cost of studying abroad is very high. But is it worth it?
We know that there are many famous people who succeed in great things through their hard work in China.Once an American teacher invited him there but he refused. He kept training hard with his Chinese teacher. He surprised the world when he won a gold medal(金牌) at the Athens Olympics. Going to a British school for one year was a fantastic and exciting experience for me. A British school starts around 9 a.m. and ends about 3:30 p.m. It means I could stay in bed for an extra hour.
On the first day, all the new students had a meeting. The headmaster told us about the school rules. He also told us that the best way to get respect was to devote ourselves to study and get high grades. This sounded like my school in China.
We had to move to different classrooms for different classes. We also had different students in some classes, so it was difficult for me to remember all the faces and names.
I found that the homework was not as heavy as what I used to get in my old school. Yet it was a bit challenging for me at first, because all the homework was in English. We had many subjects: English, History, Science, Art and so on, but we can stop studying some subjects if we have no interest in them. Then they can choose some other subjects.
I missed Chinese food a lot at lunch. British food is very different. British people like eating desserts(甜點(diǎn)) which usually come after their main meal. After lunch, we usually played on the school playground or relaxed under a tree.
I felt very lucky to experience this different way of life. I really hope to go back and study in Manchester again.

【題目】 Lightning is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena(現(xiàn)象).It is also one of the most deadly phenomena. A bolt of lightning is six times hotter than the surface(表面)of the Sun and gives out 30,000 amps of electricity().It can travel at 100, 000 kilometres per hour and has the ability to hit an object up to 40 kilometres away. About 1,000 people around the world are killed by lightning every day.

Only about ten percent of people struck by lightning will actually die, but the others are actually very badly injured, with burns, broken bones, blindness, deafness, paralysis, or memory loss. If you are stuck(困住)outside, do not take shelter under a tree. Instead, roll yourself up into a ball on the ground as small as possible.
