How do you feel when you have to make a report in front of your classmates? What about when you go to a birthday party? Do you get1shy?
Shyness means feeling nervous or2when you’re round other people. Everyone experiences(體驗)this shyness3they grow up. Most people have red faces and talk in broken sentences when they are in the center of attention. It’s OK if it takes you a while to feel yourself again when you go to a new place or meet strangers.4, everybody gets a little shy sometimes. It’s just a case(事)of how much. But many teenagers think that they hate themselves and that they won’t fit in the future at come point.
Stop the negative(消極的)thoughts about yourself. If shyness doesn’t keep you5something you want to do, being shy isn’t a very big problem. Some experts say shy people are not only cleverer, but also better at working with others, because they think more and talk6. Some great people in history were shy, too.
You see, being shy isn’t all7. But remember not to let good chances8just because of it ! Your shyness will9. When you grow up year after year, you’11 become brave enough to speak to anyone. But now, you need practice! If you have to sing a song at a party, just do it! There’s nothing to be afraid of !
Remember, though you’re shy, you do not lack in(缺少)10.Cone on,our shy friends!

A reader wrote in to say that she was feeling lonely at break because her best friend
wasn’t around. Here’s our advice to her—and to all kids who feel lonely sometimes.
It’s hard when a best friend isn’t around—maybe because she moved to a different
school or a different class. You may feel lonely at break or lunchtime. You want to have new
friends.but how do you make them? Maybe it seems like everybody else already has their
friends. But remember, there’s always room for more friends.   。.
Start by looking around your classroom—think about which kids you’d like to play
with at break.Look for chances to say hi to them, smile, and be friendly.Offer to share
something or express your appreciation(欣賞)to them.Invite someone to play with you or
say “Do you want to sit here?” in the lunchroom. When you’re at break, walk over to kids
you want to play with.a(chǎn)ct friendly, and say “Hi,can l play, too?” or just join in.
If you have trouble doing this or if you’re feeling shy, ask your teacher to help you make
new friends.Teachers are usually pretty good at matching up friends. The best way to make
friends is to be a friend.Be kind,be friendly,share,say nice things,offer to help—and pretty soon,you’ll have one,or two,or even more new friends.
You might still miss that special best friend. But when you see each other, you can share
something you didn’t have before she left:You can introduce her to your new friends!
