【題目】

Come to meet Luo Tianyi, the most popular virtual idol (虛擬偶像) in China. The 15-year-old singer is not a real person, but an animated figure created by a computer. She has appeared in many TV shows and advertisements. She even held two concerts in Shanghai with nearly 10,000 fans.

Starting career in 2012, Luo is China’s first virtual singer. But she is not the only one. Just in 2017, 14 virtual idols were created in China, according to Global Times.

Although many people think the virtual world is much less reliable (可靠的) than the real one, the virtual idols have all found their places among fans. But how do these virtual idols win people’s hearts when there are so many good-looking and talented human stars?

One possible reason is that virtual idols like Luo are much closer to their fans. Fans write songs for their virtual idols. Luo’s fans have created more than 10,000 songs for her and some have become her most famous works. For example, a fan created a song, in which Luo enjoys all kinds of delicious food. Being a foodie ended up as part of Luo’s personality later. It is the fans who give their virtual idols their own personalities.

Virtual idols are also better at staying out of trouble than human stars. There’s bad news about human stars from time to time, but virtual idols never let people down. By giving people something that can’t be provided by human stars, virtual idols are more than idols to their fans.

What Would You Do? is a TV program on American ABC. The program which is hosted by the news reporter John Quinones is popular with many people. It tests what people will do when they see someone is in trouble so as to remind us to stand up for the people in need. Here is last week’s program.

In a cake shop, two actors acted as a blind woman named Pamela and a man clerk who looked down upon the blind. Hidden cameras were recording what would happen. The blind woman came into the shop and bought a box of twelve cup cakes. The clerk treated the woman badly at first. Then he cheated her when he gave her the change. He only gave her 6 single dollar bills instead of 34 dollars.

Would someone be brave enough to stand up for the blind woman? Yes! A customer(顧客) in the cake shop stopped the clerk from cheating the blind and treating her badly. And other customers joined in soon. John appeared in the end and interviewed the first customer who helped Pamela out. Fresh off his MasterChef Junior run, Evan Robinson, who is only 12 years old, is using his kitchen skills to raise money for Puerto Rico. The TV show contestant wanted to offer help after hurricanes(颶風(fēng)) hit the country last September.

“I’ve been seeing, all over the news, people struggling,” Evan said. “They can’t get fresh water, electricity; they can’t get really anything. I know I’m just a kid, but I think if a lot of people do something, a lot of things will get better.”

He raises money by baking and taking online orders for homemade empanadas( ). He started cooking on a recent Friday night. By the next Sunday evening, he had filled orders for 420 empanadas — — roasted chicken, cheeseburger and vegetarian — — getting $18 for six empanadas and $30 for a dozen.

His mom, Veronica Robinson, helped him send the empanadas around the city. “We’ve never done anything like this before,” she said. “But it’s a great idea, so I want to help him make it work.”

For Evan’s out-of-town friends and supporters, he has set up a crowdfunding(眾籌) page. Through it, he’s hoping to raise $1, 500 in “virtual ( ) empanadas”. This is because he heard on the news that it could take Puerto Rico years, maybe even 10 years, to recover(復(fù) ) from the hurricanes. And he said, “Fruit pies are up next. And my baking will continue as well.”

It’s a difficult job, especially for a kid with homework and Boy Scouts and friendships to tend to. But he doesn’t seem worried.

3According to the passage, which are the best words to describe Evan?

C. honest and hard-working D. humorous and organized

4How can we understand the last sentence in the passage?
