People in different countries have different ways of doing things. Something that is polite in one country may be quite impolite in another. In Britain, you mustn’t lift your bowl to your mouth when you are having some liquid (液體) food. But it’s different in China. And in Japan you even needn’t worry about making noises when you have it. It shows that you are enjoying it. But it is regarded as bad manners in Britain. If you are a visitor in Mongolia, what manners do they wish you to have? They wish you to give a loud “burp”(打嗝) after you finish eating, Burping shows that you like the food.
In Britain, you should try not to put your hands on the table when you’re having a meal. In Mexico, however, guests are expected to keep their hands on the table during a meal. The days are getting shorter and shorter, and temperatures are dropping. Winter is coming and it is easy for people to catch flu. Many people have started taking vitamin C pills as a precautionary(預(yù)防的)way. But a research has shown that vitamin C pills do not provide as much protection as they think. They are even not as good as other ways, like often washing your hands. Some German scientists have given people information and a test on the subject helping to stop incorrect ways.
Whether it is caused by cold or flu(流行性感冒), a runny nose and sore throat are signs of catching a cold. Many people overestimate(高估) the advantages of vitamin C and other pills. But the result of the research showed disagreement on these beliefs(看法). The result has now come out on the website wwww.informedhealthonline.org. “Some pills may not help people live longer. Some pills may even lead to earlier death,” says Professor Peter Sawicki. Scientists also say that the best way to get vitamins is through food instead of having vitamin pills. That is to say, we disagree with the way of taking vitamin C pills.
There are many simple but useful ways to lower the risk of catching a cold. These include often washing your hands with normal soap(肥皂) and water and not touching your face with your hands. It is said that the eyes are the windows of our soul. Beautiful and bright eyes not only show a good health but also make you look very attractive. However, to have healthy eyes you have to look after them properly. Yours eyes need everyday attention.
Pay more attention to your diet. First, eat food that is good for your eyes. They are fresh fruits and vegetables such as fish, eggs, and milk. Besides, a regular amount of vitamins A and B2 should also be taken.
A regular and sound sleep is necessary. It relaxes the eye muscles and gives them the rest required. Sleep not only helps the body to repair its tired tissues(組織). Usually, you must sleep for at least seven to eight hours every day. Loss of sleep can give you dark circles under the eye.
You must exercise your eyes every day. Blink(眨眼) yours eyes at regular periods, which makes the eyeballs watery, and gives them a good wash.
We use our eyes in many unnoticeable and wrong ways. Fox example, if a small thing goes into our eye we start rubbing(揉) it, which is wrong. Rubbing can cause damage to your eyes. Don’ t read or write in poor or bright sunlight. Always use sunglasses as sunlight can cause eye tiredness. Light should not shine directly in your eyes. Remember to always take care of God’s most beautiful gift to you. Your life will be very colorless without your eyes.
