【題目】Answer the questions(根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答下列問(wèn)題)
Few people would disagree that email makes our lives easier. But misusing email can cause problems. Answering all those emails and processing all that information can overload(使負(fù)荷過(guò))the brain, causing stress. So says the Future Work Center, a business based in London. This company carries out psychological (心理的) )research on people’s experiences in their workplaces.
Dr Richand Memnon at the center was the lead author of a report on messaging habits. He calls email a double-edged sword: Emails provide a useful way to communicate, but they could add to tension(緊張情緒) in the mind, causing stress. Come rain or shine(無(wú)論如何),some office workers are under pressure to read and answer emails all day long. Psychologists care about the pressure that workers bring on themselves. Dr. Mackinnon says that while email can be a valuable, time-saving communication tool, it can also be a source of stress and even anger for many of us. He adds that the stress does not come from the number of emails you get. The problems result from when and how you deal with them.
According to the study, leaving email on all day and never signing off(簽收), along with reading and answering emails early in the day and late at night, are what makes email stressful. Dr. MacKinnon says these bad email habits are linked to higher levels of stress in office workers. The report gives several suggestions on avoiding emails stress.
Use email with a plan. Do not just react to endless email. If you use email application, or app, close it down when you want to be left alone.
If you need to communicate with a co-worker, call or better still walk to their office and talk about it.
Be careful with the “ reply all” option. For example, if you are accepting an invitation to attend training, just write back to those who need to know. Trust me. Other workers on that mailing list will thank you.
And accept the fact that if a matter is urgent, employers will call you about it. Email is certainly not going anywhere, so it is important to take control of your emails and not the other way around.
【1】Many people disagree that email makes our lives easier, don’t they?
【2】Why does Dr. MacKinnon call email “a double-edged sword”?
【3】What is linked to bad email habits in office workers?
【4】What’s the purpose of giving suggestions according to the report?
【5】If you want to receive an invitation by email, what should you do to reply it?
【6】What good or bad habit of email processing have you got?
Why do you think it is good or bad?

【題目】 Palmistry(手相術(shù)), or the art of reading the lines on a person’s hand, is thousands of years old. It probably began in ancient India.
Most people expect a palmist to tell them about their future. They ask questions like: Shall I be rich and successful? Shall I be famous? Shall I have a long and happy life? They do not ask:Am I a nice person? Am I brave or shy? Am I clever? Am I careful and reliable at work?
But this is really what palmistry is about
Of course. there are people who do not believe in palmistry. They call it pseudoscience(迷信). But there are other people who believe that palmistry can tell us a lot about a person's talents and personality. Using the lines and other marks on the hand, a palmist is often able to foretell something of a Person's future, but only in general terms.
The first thing a professional palmist does is to study the whole hand, its size, shape and texture (Is it smooth or rough?)Next he looks at the fingers, their length and shape and their condition of the fingernails. Finally he will study the lines of the hand. It is these lines that most people want to look at and try to “read”.
Clear, strong lines
Hand lines which are clear and strong indicate a person who is calm,good-tempered and generally contented with life. This sort of person will not get angry quickly and will be cautious about getting involved in anything out of the ordinary. At work, such a person will be careful and reliable.
Small line
A lot of small lines on the hand indicate a person who is sensitive and excitable. These people are nervous, get angry quickly and get excited easily. They are often very talented, but sometimes find it difficult to settle in one job. They frequently have a number of different hobbies.
The
The heart line
If your heart line is strong and clear, you are a warm and affectionate person. If it is weak, then you are probably rather cool. If you have a lot of small lines coming off the heart line, you will have plenty of romance in your life
The head line
If your head line is strong and clear, you are intelligent and imaginative. You will probably get a good job. However, this does not necessarily mean you will be rich and successful, as other factors are involve, for example, the number of small lines and the line of fate.
The life line
If you have a long life line, you will live a long time. A shorter life line indicates a shorter life.
The line or fate
Study this carefully, If it is strong and reaches as far as the middle finger, you will be successful.
