【答案】例文:

I am Wu Li. I am a college student for Beijing. Last summer, I worked as a volunteer teacher in a primary school. It’s in a mountain village in Gansu in North-west China. I taught English to students in Grade 4. With my help, the students' English was greatly improved. After school, I often told my students about the city life. It opened up a whole new world to them.

I think it's very meaningful to be a volunteer teacher because I can learn more about China's education and help improve local people’s lives as well.

I hope to help more children in poor areas. I will be a teacher in the west after I finish college.

【題目】 Last year in the UK at least 45 people died and 900 more were injured in car accidents where drivers were using their mobile phones. Yet many people continue to use them while driving even though it's dangerous.

Research has shown that it is difficult to concentrate on driving and talking at the same time. It can even be more dangerous than driving after drinking too much. A recent study found that when drivers were talking on their mobile phones, their stopping times were 30 percent slower than when they had drunk too much—and nearly 50 percent slower than when they were driving normally. It also found that drivers talking on mobile phones were less able to control their cars than drunk drivers.

And talking isn't even the most serious problem, texting is. Unbelievably, another recent study reported that 22 % of adults admitted they had sent a text message while driving at least once in the past month. An average text message takes 90 seconds to write and send. That means for one and a half minutes a driver is looking at their phone's screen and not at the road. The arrival of new smart phones such as the iPhone will only make matters worse as they will allow users to do more things than ever before.

Using a mobile phone while driving puts others' lives at risk. No matter how well we drive, if another driver is not being professional or careful, we are put in danger by their actions. Such drivers are selfish, careless and should have their driving licences (駕照) cancelled.

There is no doubt that mobile phones call be fun and are extremely useful, especially when you're in trouble. But there is no need to use them while driving. Just wait until you stop or you will probably get into trouble of your own.

1The underlined word "them" in paragraph 1 refers to __________.

A.phone usersB.mobile phonesC.driversD.ears

2According to the passage, if a driver needs 10 seconds to stop when driving normally, they will need __________ seconds to stop when talking on a mobile phone.

A.12.B.13.C.14.D.15.

3According to the passage, in what order do the following activities influence driving?

Dangerous→More dangerous→Most dangerous

A.drinking→talking on phone→textingB.texting→talking on phone→drinking

C.talking on phone→texting→drinkingD.drinking→texting→talking on phone

4Why will new types of mobile phones make the driving problem worse?

A.It will take longer to send text messages.

B.People will want to talk on their phones more often.

C.There will be more things for people to do with their phones.

D.People think the new phones are easier and safer to use.

5According to the writer, what should be done to people who use mobile phones when driving?

A.They should be put into prison.B.Their cars should be taken away.

C.Their phones should be taken from them.D.They should not be allowed to drive any longer.

【題目】 In England, people buy bus tickets on the bus. In France, they buy them at a bus station. In Australia, they can buy them from a magazine store. Books on cross-cultural communication make us curious by focusing on differences between people across the world: in social behavior and the importance of their body language, etc.

For example, how close you stand to someone when you are speaking to him is different in different cultures. Surveys in most countries tell us that the proper distance(距離)of two people standing in a social situation is between 1. 2 metres and 3.5 metres. But in China, this distance seems to be smaller, while in Sweden, people usually stand farther.

The message sent by the way you stand or sit is another condition. For example, it is quite common in European countries to sit with your legs crossed. But people in Arab countries hardly ever sit in this way—because they might show you the bottom of their shoes, and it is thought to be impolite.

Such information fills the pages of guides for travellers and international business people. Clearly it is important to know a little about eating customs and the rules about basic greetings—whether you should bow or shake someone's hands. But under the surface, we are not so different. There are many signs that are common in the emotions(情感)that they communicate.

Smiling is the best known of these, but not the only one. Scientists have proven that all over the world, people show sadness in a similar way. People look down with their face “falling” and mouth corner turning down. There are also common factors when people are bored. They will look at other things in an distracted(漫不經(jīng)心的) way--their watches, for example. Their feet will begin to move restlessly showing that they want to escape.

Understanding these body languages and acting properly is the real key to cross-cultural communication. If we all pay just a little attention, it is impossible that we will cause lasting inconvenience by using the wrong body language or standing too near to strangers and then make them feel uncomfortable.

1Where do people in England buy bus tickets?

2What is the proper distance of two people standing in most countries?

3Why do people in Arab countries hardly sit with their legs crossed?

4How do people around the world show sadness in a similar way?

5What is the passage mainly about?
