When my brother and I were children, we spent a few weeks each summer in the countryside with our uncle. He was a geologist and loved to go on long walks to find stones to add to his collection at the university. More often than not, we followed him.

One day, we left early and this time, our uncle gave us two backpacks. "You can help me carry the samples, " he explained.

Sure, why not? The whole day, we walked around the countryside, and every now and then, our uncle put stones in our bags.We were a bit surprised that sometimes he also took some stones out from our bags, but thought he had just found better samples.

We reached the house in the late afternoon. The backpacks were so heavy that we were really tired out when we put them on the ground. Yet our uncle's backpack was half-empty.

"Why did you give us so many stones? " we asked. "I didn't. You did, " he said, waiting for a while before continuing. "You did not know it, but made you go through a little attitude test today."

"What do you mean an 'attitude test'?" we wanted to know.

"It is something someone once did to me. You see, I listened to every word you said. And whenever you complained about anyone or anything, I added a stone to your bags. And whenever you talked about something in an attitude of positive thinking, I took out a stone. And now look at your backpacks.

We did. They were full. "I hope you remember this little attitude test. You see, your negative thoughts are like stones. You carry them in your mind just like those stones in a backpack. The more negative thoughts you have, the heavier your mind is. So look at those bags and start paying attention to what you say and how you say things."

This little lesson was one of the most important I ever had. And I remember my uncle with great love for teaching us one of the most important lessons in life—the power of attitude.

根據(jù)“loved to go on long walks to find stones to add to his collection at the universitygeologist指的是地質(zhì)學(xué)家,研究地質(zhì)的人。故選B

2

根據(jù)第四段“We reached the house in the late afternoon. The backpacks were so heavy that we were really tired out when we put them on the ground”可知到家發(fā)現(xiàn)背包裝滿(mǎn)了石頭。故選C。

3

根據(jù)第八段“your negative thoughts are like stones”“ The more negative thoughts you have, the heavier your mind is”可知叔叔把消極的思想比作石頭,擁有的消極思想越多,你的心里負(fù)擔(dān)就越重。故選D。

4

根據(jù)最后一段“I remember my uncle with great love for teaching us one of the most important lessons in life—the power of attitude”以及倒數(shù)第二段“your negative thoughts are like stones. You carry them in your mind just like those stones in a backpack The more negative thoughts you have, the heavier your mind is. So look at those bags and start paying attention to what you say and how you say things”,主要是強(qiáng)調(diào)態(tài)度的重要性,在面臨困難時(shí),抱怨會(huì)讓你有消極情緒,這種情緒越多,你的心理負(fù)擔(dān)越重,要積極的心態(tài)面對(duì)困難和挑戰(zhàn)。 When we face difficulties in our life, we shouldn't complain about them. Perhaps we may meet unhappy things, but keeping an attitude of positive thinking should always be together with us. We shouldn’t have negative thoughts. Meanwhile, we must be confident to overcome the difficulties and challenge ourselves.

【題目】 In students' daily talks, celebrities(名人)are usually a hot topic, including their dress, behavior, families and other personal things. Then, is it a celebrity's job to be a good role model? Please read the following students' debate.

It's a celebrity's job to be a good role model because people usually look up to stars. If a celebrity drinks and smokes, his fans will follow him because they look up to the celebrity so much. If a celebrity's lifestyle is inappropriate for kids, then their parents should be more careful about what they let their kids see.

A celebrity doesn't have to try to be a good role model. They are famous because they worked hard at what they love for a living. They should, however, try to make good choices for themselves, not their fans. Lots of stars have to post apology(道歉)letters after being caught doing bad things. It's good, but if the only reason they do is to win back their fans, it's not good.

I think everyone should try to be a good role model, even if you are not a celebrity! You can still be a role model to your sisters and brothers, a younger neighbour, or anyone. But I think celebrities should be very good, because they are role models for so many people!

Although it is a wonderful thing to be a good role model, that's not what the celebrities must do. They are famous because they love what they do and are good at it. Being a role model is never in the job. If the celebrity knows they are affecting the young people, they should try hard to set a good example.

In 1972, Richard Sears, a young American began learning Chinese because of his interest in traditional Chinese culture.
