Sometimes, I’m asked: What’s the secret to success? For me, it’s love and focusing on making myself proud.

Here are five keys that are necessary for a successful career in IT.

Create a plan

Plan how you can use your love to gain exposure (接觸) and experience.

I often recommend anyone starting out in IT begin on the help desk. It gives you a quick education on the latest technology.

Write down goals and important events for the coming years to mark your progress.

Remember that the technology you come across in your careers (事業(yè)) will change all the time.

Look for a mentor (導(dǎo)師)

It can be difficult to be faced with life decisions you may not be prepared for. It’s very important to your success to find a good mentor --- one who’ll give you sound guidance, and with the experience help you avoid pitfalls (意想不到的困難) and career dead-ends.

A mentor allows you to ask practically any question. More importantly, she can help you face many of the unique challenges women face in the traditionally male-dominated field of IT.

Make yourself proud

Others’ recognition is always of importance. However, you also need an internal compass that keeps you focused on who you want to be, personally and professionally.

Build your network

Surround yourself with those who’ll lift you up, support you, and be honest with you. You’ll be able to face difficulties and challenges that feel too large and difficult to overcome on your own.

In addition, no matter how hard you work, unless you’re aware of a chance, you’re not going to get a shot at it. Your network will open up chances for you and your career, both now and in the years to come.

Investing(投資) in people is never a waste of time or effort. It always comes back to you.

And then, give back

Young people need the help of a network as they grow in their careers. So now it’s your turn.

Love is contagious (有感染力的)

Don’t doubt to follow your love. With careful planning, plus support from mentors and contacts, you’ll find yourself on your way to an extraordinary successful IT career.

I often recommend anyone starting out in IT begin on the help desk. It gives you a quick education on the latest technology.

Write down goals and important events for the coming years to mark your progress.

Remember that the technology you come across in your careers (事業(yè)) will change all the time.

It’s very important to your success to find a good mentor --- one who’ll give you sound guidance, and with the experience help you avoid pitfalls (意想不到的困難) and career dead-ends.

More importantly, she can help you face many of the unique challenges women face in the traditionally male-dominated field of IT.

Others’ recognition is always of importance. However, you also need an internal compass that keeps you focused on who you want to be, personally and professionally. 原文中be of importance相當(dāng)于important,“重要的”。

Surround yourself with those who’ll lift you up, support you, and be honest with you.

8根據(jù)第四條建議中Investing(投資) in people is never a waste of time or effort. It always comes back to you. 由此可知這里應(yīng)填paid或者given,be paid/given back“被償還,得到回報(bào)”。

Young people need the help of a network as they grow in their careers. So now it’s your turn年輕人在事業(yè)成長時(shí)需要網(wǎng)絡(luò)的幫助,現(xiàn)在該輪到你了,及輪到你去幫助別人了。

Don’t doubt to follow your love.“追隨你的愛”可知,這里應(yīng)填love。

I often recommend anyone starting out in IT begin on the help desk. It gives you a quick education on the latest technology. Others’ recognition is always of importance. However, you also need an internal compass that keeps you focused on who you want to be, personally and professionally. 原文中be of importance相當(dāng)于important,“重要的”。

Last week was Road Safety Week at Jason's school. All the students had to take part in a talk on road safety which was given by a police officer. The following is what the police officer said.

"Most traffic accidents shouldn't happen. They happen because people are careless. Frequent cause of traffic accidents is speed. Some people drive too quickly. This means that if they have to stop suddenly, they cannot stop quickly enough to avoid(避免) hitting other vehicles(車輛) or people. You need to remember this when you are crossing the street or walking along the sidewalk."

"It's not only drivers who cause accidents, however, people on foot—pedestrians(行人), and bicycle riders often cause accidents, too. Pedestrians sometimes walk out into the street without looking. You should always look on both sides before stepping into the street."

"Do any of you ride a bike? Bicycle riders can cause accidents by changing directions suddenly or without warning other road users. Before you turn left, for example, you should check behind you to make sure there aren't any cars, trucks or buses coming. You should show with your left hand to tell that you want to turn left. You should not turn until the street is clear."
