Be thankful when you don’t already have everything you want.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don’t know something,
for it gives you the chance to learn.
Be thankful for the difficult times
During those times you grow.

They will teach you important lessons

Thanksgiving Day was coming. The first grade teacher gave her class a fun assignment (作業(yè)) — to draw a picture of 1 for which they were thankful.

The story speaks of more than thankfulness. It says something about teachers teaching and parents parenting and friends showing friendship, and how much it means to the Douglases of the world. They might not always say thanks, but they’ll remember the hand that 15 out.
