Peter's uncle lives in the country. Once in summer, Peter goes to stay with him for a few weeks. Whenever they go for a walk or for a drive in the car and pass somebody, his uncle waves(向……打招呼)to the passer-by. Peter is surprised and says, "Uncle George, you seem (似乎)to know everybody here. Where did you meet them all?"

"I don't know all these people," answers his uncle.

"Then why do you wave to them?""Well. Peter,"says his uncle, "When I wave to someone who knows me, he is pleased. He goes on his journey (旅行) with a happier heart. But when I wave to someone who doesn't know me, he is surprised (感到驚奇的)and says to himself, 'Who is that man? Why did he wave to me?' It isn't strictly true that one half of the world is rich and the other half is poor. It is one-third that is very rich and two-thirds that are very poor.

People in the rich countries don't understand the great difference between them and those in the poorer countries. A very simple example is that a dog or a cat in north America eats better than a child in the poorer countries. A fisherman in South America may be catching fish which is processed into pet food, and his own children are not getting enough to eat for their bodies to grow properly.

Although a lot of the world's natural resources like oil come from these poorer countries, people in the richer countries are using about sixty times as much of these resources as people in Asia or Africa. And it's the richer countries that decide what kind of prices they are ready to pay for these resources. And the prices the richer countries get for their own exports, however, are always rising. So they are getting richer and richer and the poorer countries are getting poorer.

1.________ of the world is very rich and ________ very poor.

[ ]

A.One half, the other half is

B.One-third, two-thirds are

C.One-four, three-fourths are

[ ]

A.his own pet food

3.A lot of the world's natural resources come from ________.

[ ]

A.richer countries in Africa

B.poorer countries in the world

C.poorer countries in South America

D.countries in Asia

4.Usually it is ________ that decide the prices of the resources.

[ ]

A.the richer countries

B.the poorer countries

D.the owner of the resources

China news, Xichang, Oct 19-The Chang'e No. 1 moon probe satellite took its name after a young and
beautiful goddess in a traditional Chinese legend who lived in her palace on the moon with her pet rabbit.
Compared with the legendary fairy maiden, the satellite, with a weight of more than 2 tons, might appear
large and hefty. However, scientists believed that the satellite could fly to the moon in a graceful way during
the upcoming launch, just like what the fairy maiden did as described in the legend.
The main tasks facing Chang'e No. 1 are to take the 3D pictures of the moon and to explore the moon
surface environment. Compared with manned spacecraft Shenzhou 5 and Shenzhou 6, Chang'e No.1 is
a small satellite. While scientists need to add four boosters to send Shenzhou 5 and Shenzhou 6 into space,
the launch of Chang'e No. 1 will not need any booster at all. Since Chang'e No. 1 satellite is a small device,
the loading capacity of the Chang'e satellite launch will be much lighter. In sending large satellites, the total
weight of the satellite and the carrier rocket can be as many as 400 tons or more. However, Chang'e No.1
and its carrier rocket, Long March 3A, weigh only 250 tons.
The Chang'e No.1 satellite will fly around the earth for a couple of times before it shifts to the moon orbit.
After that, 13 monitoring devices that are placed on the earth will adjust its flying positions in space. By then,
people might see that the moon probe satellite will turn swiftly in space.
1. Why is the moon probe satellite named Chang'e?
    __________________________________________________________________
2. What carried Chang'e to space?
    __________________________________________________________________
3. What will the moon probe satellite fly around in the end?
    __________________________________________________________________
