Dear Mike,

You asked me about the best time to travel in Tianjin. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Best wishes,

Li Jie

【答案】Dear Mike,

You asked me about the best time to travel in Tianjin. I’m glad to talk about the weather firstly. The weather of Tianjin is different in four seasons. It’s warm and windy in spring. But in summer, it’s hot and sometimes rainy. When autumn comes, the weather will be cool and comfortable. But in winter, it’s very cold.

In my opinion, autumn is the best time to visit Tianjin. There are three reasons.

First, the weather in autumn here is the most comfortable. You won’t feel too cold or too hot. Second, you can have many delicious fruits and enjoy beautiful Maple trees in the autumn of Tianjin. At last, people in Tianjin always go boating on the Haihe River. It’s the most relaxing activity in autumn and I hope that I can go with you!

Best wishes,

Li Jie

【題目】根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,判斷正誤。
“How are you?”is a nice question. It's a friendly way for Americans to greet each other. But“How are you?”is also a very unusual question. It often doesn't need an answer. The person who asks“How are you?”hopes to hear the answer“Fine”even if the person's friend isn't fine. In fact, they are not really a question or an answer. They are simply other ways of saying “Hello”or“Hi”.
Sometimes people also don't say exactly what they mean, For example, when someone asks“Do you agree?”the other person might think,“No,I disagree. I think you're wrong.” But it isn't very polite to disagree so strongly, so the other person might say,“I'm afraid …”It's a nicer way to disagree.
People also don't say exactly what they are thinking when they finish talking with other people. For example, many phone talks finish when one person says“I have to go now.”O(jiān)ften, the person who wants to finish the phone call gives an excuse,“Someone's at the door.”The excuse might be real, or not. Perhaps the person who wants to finish the phone call simply doesn't want to talk anymore, but it isn't polite to say that. The excuse is more polite, and it doesn't hurt the other person.
When they are greeting each other, talking about an idea, thinking of finishing a talk, people don't say exactly what they are thinking about. It's an important way that people try to be nice to each other, and it is part of the game of language.
(1)“How are you?”is another way of saying“Hello”or“Hi”.
(2)It is polite to say“No,I disagree. I think you are wrong”if you don't agree with others.
(3)When someone says“I have to go now”on the phone, it means he wants to go on talking.
(4)“Someone is at the door ”may be an excuse for finishing a phone call.
(5)Sometimes, people don't say exactly what they are thinking about just because they try to be nice to each other.

【題目】 There are many ways to help improve your health like eating healthy food. Taking exercise and getting medical help. But the easiest and cheapest way to improve your health is just to sleep eight hours or more every night. The general sleeping rule is that the younger you are, the longer sleep you need. But regardless of(不管)age, some people need to sleep more while for some a few hours is enough.

The problem with sleep is that more and more people in the world are not sleeping enough. According to the World Health Organization over half the people in the world may be sleep-deprived. Having less sleep not only makes people feel tired but also causes accidents. In the United States alone, sleepy drivers cause at least 100,000 traffic accidents a year. Also sleep problems can cause medical problems such as high blood pressure(血壓).

Why are so many people sleep-deprived? Part of the reasons may be cultural. In the American culture, people put a higher value on work than on sleep. In fact, peopele who sleep a lot are usuallv seen as “l(fā)azy”. Also, you can sometimes hear some people say proudly that they don’t have much time to sleep. they only sleep four or five hours a night. It seems that the less you sleep, the more work you’ll do.

How do we teach these people to learn the value of sleep? Perhaps they may listen to the advice of Dr. James Maas an expert (專家) in sleep. He says , “Sleep is like a credit (信用卡) card. When you sleep less. you are only borrowing time. You always have to pay it back. The morehours you don’t sleep, the more hours you should t sleep to ‘pay back’ the hours on your ‘sleepcredit card.’”

For those who value work more than sleep, they should listen to what a famous person once said. “Don’t think you will be doing less work because you sleep during the night. That is a foolish(愚蠢的) idea which is held by people who have no imagination. You will be able to do more.”
