As you are growing and changing, you have more responsibilities and also more freedom to spend time with other people. While you may feel ___________ to make your own decisions about where and when to go, your parents will put limits on you. So you may find you are ___________ your parents more often than you used to. The reason why your parents do this is that they care about you and want to protect you from danger.
Here are some tips for you on how to keep away from and handle arguments with your parents.
● ___________ the rules ahead of time and not at the last minute. This way you will be able to tell whether they will say yes or no before you make plans. Your parents can also explain to you why each rule is in place. Ask them to let you explain how the rules make you feel and suggest what you think are ___________ rules. Your parents may be willing to listen to your ideas and use them when making rules that you both agree on.
● Try to keep calm when your parents say no to something. You will show your parents that you are responsible and mature by talking instead of ___________.

【題目】 What homework did you do in the winter holiday? Now homework is not simply about exercises. It can be researches, experiments and even work experiences. Take a look at some students' special homework.
Studying snacks
One day, Wang Yang, from Shanghai Oriental School, was doing his biology homework. His teacher asked them to research the nutrients of different snacks. He bought 10 kinds of snacks. Then he checked their ingredient (成分) lists one by one and wrote down the amount of sugar, fat and so on, in each. 'We are told it is not good to eat too many snacks. They have high calories (卡路里). But we always pay no attention to it," he said. After analyzing (分析) each snack's ingredients, he realized it was true.
Wang Yang spent three days on the homework. But he said it was interesting. "I learned a lot. I collected the data (數(shù)據(jù)), created forms and wrote the report by myself."
Physics in real life
With some plasticine (橡皮泥), steel balls, a ping-pong ball, could you make a tumbler (不倒翁)? This is the physics homework of Huang Jiali, 14, of Shanghai 54 Middle School.

"Next term, we will learn about the center of gravity (重心). This homework made me more curious about it," she said.
Learning on the job
While Wang and Huang did their homework at home, Ding Ling, 15, of No. 5 Middle School, had to go outside. She worked as a guide in the local museum. 'Everyone at our school has to take part in volunteering or other activities," she said.
Ding was a guide in the gallery (展館) of coins. She got brochures (小冊(cè)子) from the museum. In order to make the introduction more vividly, she still did research and added more information to her introduction. She worked three hours a day and had no time to take a break. 【題目】 Do you know what a burpee is?
The burpee is one of the most basic exercises. It is made up of movements performed very quickly and repeatedly. Some fitness experts believe that it is the best exercise in the world because this exercise is one that anyone can do very easily and very cheaply. Best of all, you can get a great full-body exercise without going to a gym.
The inventor of the burpee was an American doctor, Royal H Burpee. He firstly developed it in 1932 as a test, called "The Burpee Test", to test a person's ability to move rapidly and smoothly.
Equipment (設(shè)備) needed: none
How to perform the basic burpee correctly:
1.Begin a standing position, with your feet about hip-width apart (與臀部同寬). Stand with your back straight and your arms at your sides. Hold your abdominal muscles (腹部肌肉) in tightly throughout the exercise.
2. Keep your back straight, squat down and place your hands on the floor.
3. Push your feet back behind you, so that you move from a squat position to a full-length leg extension (伸展). Keep both arms and legs straight and strong. This is the basic push up position.
4. Bring your feet back to the squat position immediately by bending your knees quickly and placing your hands on the floor.
5.Jump straight up as high as you can from the squat position, holding your arms up directly over your head.

【題目】
A live-streaming app (直播應(yīng)用) that monitors (監(jiān)控) students in classrooms in some middle schools has raised a lot of online discussion. It was reported that any user of the app Shuidi could see inside classrooms. Some parents have praised the app for giving them the chance to monitor their children, while others worry about privacy problems, Do you think the app is a good idea?
I strongly support this app. Nowadays, children play an important role in the whole family, and parents always want to care for their children, wherever they are. This new platform (平臺(tái)) helps parents see what their children are doing in classes. It's also a good way to make students behave themselves in school.
I'm in favor of this app if parents get their children's permission (準(zhǔn)許) first. The app could help parents focus on children's bad habits. It could also be used as a tool to prevent bullying (霸凌). However, parents should get their permission first to protect their privacy.
I think this app is a bad idea. Schools should be a pleasant and relaxing place for students to study and play. But we will feel uncomfortable if cameras are watching us all the time. We should pay attention to our privacy. Our lives shouldn't be watched by the public.
Any form of privacy invasion (侵犯) shouldn't be allowed. Although some parents want to know more about their children, they should do it in a better way. Being under the eye of strangers is too dangerous. |
