【題目】 THE LIFE CYCLE
When you plant a seed, does it stay a seed forever? No! Plants and animals grow and change lives.
Many plants begin as seeds. As the seed gets what it needs(water, sunlight, and nutrients from the soil),it begins to grow. The seed turns into a little. It keeps growing until it is a full-grown plant. Then the plant makes new seeds, so that new plants can grow even after the plant grows old and dies. Those seeds will then go through their growth process(過(guò)程).Because seeds go through this process over and over again, it is called a life cycle.
Animals also have life cycles. A frog begins as an egg. When the egg hatches, it turns into a tadpole. The tadpoles grow legs and arms, and finally grow into adult frogs. The adult frogs lay eggs, so that new frogs can live even after the frog grows old and dies.A dog's life cycle is a little different than a frog's, because a dog does not start out as an egg. It is born from its mother's belly. The puppy keeps growing and is finally an adult dog. Then the adult dog might have puppies to continue the life cycle!
Insects like caterpillars go through life cycles, too. Caterpillars begin as eggs. When they hatch, they are larvae. The caterpillar becomes a pupa, and inside of the pupa it turns into an adult. The adult is not a caterpillar; it is a butterfly! Then the butterfly lays eggs, so that new caterpillars and butterflies can live even after the butterfly grows old and dies.Plants and animals don't stay the same throughout their lives, they grow and change through their life cycle.

【題目】任務(wù)型閱讀-簡(jiǎn)答
Which type of Christmas songs are the bestThere are so many different parts to the Christmas period: jumpers, shopping, Christmas markets, decorations, songs. Without them, Christmas just wouldn't feel right. My personal favourite part of the festive period is the songs. There are traditional songs, such as Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Ding Dong Merrily on High and Good King Wenceslas, which you would normally hear in church.
Then there are the pop songs from throughout the years. Some of them have been recorded and re-recorded too many times to count.
In fact, almost every year people argue about which versions(版本)of certain Christmas songs are better. Eartha Kitt or Kylie Minogue's version of Santa Baby? What about Michael Bublé vs Frank Sinatra and their versions of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas? The list goes on and on.
The most famous Christmas songs are undoubtedly the ones with a pleasant melody, talking about being home for Christmas or how much they love Christmas. All of them are easy to remember. Have a listen to Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea orI Wish It Could be Christmas Every Day by Wizzard. Some songs highlight how much we want to be with the people we love at this time of year, such as Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley, Lonely This Christmas by Mud or Leona Lewis' One More Sleep. The mainstream songs are the ones you'll hear in shops as you do your Christmas shopping or in restaurants all over Britain.
The Christmas songs that I love to listen to are the ones that don't really make much sense. Sometimes they take you back to childhood when you wouldn't be laughed at for asking Santa for a giraffe. And the rest are just silly for the sake of it. My favourite silly Christmas songs are I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmasby Kacey Musgraves, Never Do a Tango With an Eskimo by Alma Cogan and Proper Crimbo by Bo Selecta.
The absolute best Christmas song is definitely Fairytale of New York by The Pogues ft. Kirsty MacColl. It's not really Christmas until you've listened to that.
【1】.How many different parts of the Christmas period are there?
【2】Where can you hear traditional Christmas songs?
【3】Do people argue about which versions of certain Christmas songs are better almost every year?
【4】What does the writer mainly talk about in the fourth paragraph?

【題目】
In one of my classes today we discussed the question of how our lives would be without a phone and I actually felt quite sad to hear how some kids these days cannot survive without their mobiles. Personally,I think nowadays we are controlled by our technology and pressurised(加壓的)to keep up.
So let's see some of the points that came up in the debate and see if our generation really is addicted to electronic connections rather than true communication.
It is true that everything works at a fast pace these days, due to the quick access we have to pretty much anything and anyone. For example, you can contact someone who lives on the other side of the world within seconds. This is great if you think about bow connected we can stay to the people who are far away from us;however,on the contrary, can we be too connected to the people who are close to us? An argument arose(出現(xiàn))about the fact that it is easier to message someone from your sofa than to meet them in person and talk. On one hand,it is easier and nice sometimes to carelessly chat to a friend this way. However,it is also lazier and rude to prefer to talk to someone on your phone rather than meeting up,if you are able to,in my opinion. Social skills are important to have and if you are not going to put effort into real-life communication, then you are not going to progress in this ability. Another point was that phones are very handy to look up something that you are wondering about. For example,if you don't know a word in another language, you can quickly and simply use a translator to help you out. This can be very helpful in many situations, but it can also make a person dependent on the internet to help with anything. This factor slightly takes away the diversity(多樣性)“l(fā)earning a language and speaking with people,as you are able to access everything you need by the web.
All in all, this question is very interesting to consider for oneself as we become day by day more dependent on technology. We should just realize how much we really need to be connected by our phones while considering the benefits and damage it can cause us.
【1】What can we infer from the first paragraph?
A.They had a discussion about using phone.B.Few of us are controlled by technology.
C.The writer was in high spirit to hold the discussion.D.True communication has become less.
【2】What does the underlined phrase "is addicted to”in Paragraph 2 mean?
A.depends too much onB.has something to do with
C.falls into troubles ofD.moves on from
【3】What's the writer's main purpose in writing this passage?
A.To improve our social skills.
B.To tell us the disadvantages of talking by phones.
C.To persuade us to meet people who're close to us in person and talk.
D.To ask us to just think its necessity when we use electronic connections.
【4】Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A.Can You Imagine Life without a Phone?
B.Talking on Your Phone or Meeting Up?
C.Does It Benefit You to Use Electronic Connections?
D.Do We depend too Much on Electronic Connections?
