【答案】例文:

Dear Peter,

How’s everything going with yon? I know you are worried about your biology and geography tests of the High School Entrance Exams. As your friend, I’d like to offer you some suggestions.

First of all, you are supposed to relax yourself by taking exercise, listening to music and going for a walk. Meanwhile, you should have a healthy diet. Also, junk food will do harm to you, so you'd better eat less. Instead, eat more fruit and vegetables. At the same time, you must have plenty of sleep in order that you won’t feel sleepy in class. Therefore, your brain will be active as well. Above all, you’d better learn how to communicate. You can ask your parents and teachers for help when you are in trouble and you can also share your happiness and sadness with your friends.

Finally, I sincerely hope you can achieve success and keep healthy from the bottom of my heart. Best wishes!

Yours,

LiHua

【題目】 Qomolangma is the world’s highest mountain. AYou may have learned from your textbooks that its height is 8,844 meters. But not all sides are in agreement on this. Different researchers have given different results. In addition, the height of the mountain can change over time.

That’s why a 30-member Chinese survey team set out to reach the peak of Qomolangma to re-measure its height on May 6.BThey are equipped (配備) with the latest technology, including a global navigation satellite system receiver and a radar (雷達(dá)).

It is not an easy task. The average air temperature on the mountain is -29 C – four degrees lower than in Antarctica – and powerful winds blow all the time. In such bad conditions, surveying drones (無人機(jī)) cannot work at the peak of the mountain. That’s why it’s still necessary to send human experts to the peak to get reliable (可靠的) results.

But does a difference of a few meters really matter when it comes to a high mountain?

In fact, measuring the height of Qomolangma is about more than just getting one exact number. Mount Qomolangma is at the point where the Eurasian plate (板塊) meets the Indian plate.C It formed 38 million years ago as the two plates hit each other. Changes in the peak’s height can show whether the two plates are heading toward or away from each other. This can help us understand the movement of Earth’s crust (地殼).

The survey team will also get firsthand information about environmental conditions at the top of the mountain. This will help us understand how climate change has affected the Tibet-Qinghai Plateau.

2把文中(C)處劃線句子翻譯成漢語。

3寫出(B)處劃線單詞指代的內(nèi)容。

4寫出文中提到的兩個板塊。

5簡要概況本文大意。

【題目】 In the 13th century, Marco Polo, the world known Italian traveller, saw many wonderful things in China. One of the things he discovered was money made of paper. People in the West did not have such kind of money until the 15th century. 1

Paper was invented by a Chinese man called Cai Lun almost 2,000 years ago. But it was not made in Europe until the year 1100. Four hundred years later, a German discovered that he could make the best paper from trees. 2

Paper can be used in many ways. The common uses include newspapers, magazines and books. But do you know that paper can be used for keeping warm? In Finland, the farmers wear paper boots to keep their feet warm in the snow. And even houses can be insulated (使絕緣的) from heat or cold with paper.

However, we have to understand that paper still comes from trees now. 3 Every day people throw away about 2,800 tons of paper in our city. It takes 17 trees to make one ton of paper. This means that we are cutting down nearly 48,000 trees every day. The fact is that it takes more than 10 years for a tree to grow.

4 We can use both sides of every piece of paper. We can make useful things out of used paper. We can use china cups instead of paper ones. When shopping, we can use fewer paper bags and reuse them if we have some.

In short, we should keep a balance (平衡) between using paper and protecting trees, and do it now before it is too late.

A.So we must start saving paper right now.

B.If we keep on wasting so much paper, there will not be any trees left on the earth some day in the near future.

C.However, the Chinese began to use it in the 7th century.

D.So it is the right time to stop making paper from trees.

E.After that, countries rich in forests, such as Canada, Sweden, America, Finland became the most important ones in paper making.
