本篇是一則廣告。 內(nèi)容包括招聘兒童保育自愿者、圖書館實習生和現(xiàn)場響應者, 三種工作的具體責任、工作時間、工作地點和個人的資質。

1細節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)文中“We welcome teen volunteers whenever they are available.”可知只要有空就可以,故選D。

2推理判斷題。根據(jù)文中“Bachelor’s Degree with some library experience or a current Master of Library and Information Science student. Strong attention to detail, good search skills and customer service skills.”

When he was nine years old, an American boy named Milo Cress had a question—How many plastic straws(吸管) do Americans use every day?

He quickly learned there wasn’t a simple answer. The boy tried to find out the answer to his question himself. Through lots of research, Cress calculated (計算)that Americans use about 500 million straws every day. In hope of reducing plastic waste, he set up the Be Straw Free Project in the year of 2011.

Cress started the project in his hometown---Burlington, Vermont. He asked a local restaurant to stop offering straws to every drink order. It was a simple change. However, it would save money. And by doing that, the restaurant would cut down on its straw use by 50 percent.

For the years that followed, Cress tried to spend his project across the United States. More and more restaurants agreed to join They stop providing the customer with a straw unless he or she asks for one. Last April, Seattle became the first American city to completely ban(禁令)plastic straws.

Plastic pollution has been one of the most serious problems today. According to scientists, more than eight million tons of plastic end up in the ocean each year. Plastic straws are rather terrible. However, many people like to use them. It's easy for people to get__________ with single-use(一次性) plastics.

After his project became popular, Cress took his findings on the road. He has spoken to tens of thousands of students around the world. He wants to encourage more people to say no to plastic straws.

“Paying special attention to straws is one simple step we all could take,” Cress says. And it makes me feel that I, as a kid, could make a difference, too.”

【題目】 Everybody in this world is different from one another. But do you know that understanding differences can help you better manage your money?

As we grow up, we gradually(漸漸地)develop a set of our own values or beliefs. These are influenced by society, our family, the education we receive and so on. Once this value system is set up, it’s not easy to change later in life. Financial experts(財務專家)say that everyone also has their own belief of how to manage their finances. This is the part of our value system and it has a great influence on the way we look after our money. According to our different values, experts put us in three categories(類別). They are: the ant, the cricket(蟋蟀)and the snail(蝸牛).

The ant—work first

Just like ants who work heart and soul in summer in order to store food for winter, these people don’t care about enjoying the moment. They work very hard and save money they make so that they can enjoy life when they get old. The ant loves to save.

The cricket—fun first

The cricket wants to enjoy everything now and doesn’t think too much about the future. They even borrow money when they really want something. Many young people now belong to this group. These people have little savings. When they get old, they might have problems. They should learn to save and buy insurance(保險).

The snail—living under pressure

The snail refers to people who make life difficult for themselves. They take big long-term loans(借款)from the bank in order to buy things such as big houses. They are happy to take big loans even though they are not sure if they can afford it. This can cause problems in the future. They should plan more carefully.

1The meaning of the underlined words “value system” in this passage is .

A.belief of how to manage our financesB.the way we look after our money

C.something that will not change later in lifeD.a set of our own values or beliefs

2The ant refers to people who .

A.work very hard in summer in order to store food for winter

B.can make more money if they work harder

C.save money they make for their later life when they get old

D.only care about enjoying the moment by working very hard

3Why do the crickets borrow money?

A.Because they would like to enjoy everything now.B.Because they are young.

C.Because they think they have no future.D.Because they want to buy insurance.

4The writer’s purpose in writing the passage is to .

A.make fun of the three kinds of silly people

B.make us understand the differences and manage our money better

C.make us understand we should spend our own money

D.tell us that we are the same as animals
