Look! There are thousands of people waiting to buy tickets home in the railway station. Each time when Spring Festival comes, buying tickets of train trip would be very hard. And things seem to be getting worse and worse, although we have greatly increased the mileage(總里程) of railway network and speeded up trains. Why? It’s because too many people want to go back home to spend Spring Festival with their family. Many people become angry with the Ministry(部)of Railways. They wonder why it is hopeless for them to get the tickets from the railway station.Instead, they sometimes can only buy them from ticket scalpers at much higher price.
The Ministry of Railways estimated(估計(jì)) that about 216 million passengers would travel by train during the 40-day peak period(高峰期) during the 2010 Spring Festival holiday. The number of travelers will be 8%higher than that of 2009.This problem even attracted the President Hu Jintao’s attention. He wrote a note to Liu Zhijun,Minister of the Ministry of Railways, asking him to make sure of a “smooth and safe” transportation.Afterwards, officials from the Ministry of Railways said they would try their best not to let any ticket-buyers spend Spring Festival at the railway station.

Yellow, orange, red and green- tree leaves make autumn a colourful time! Who paints all these colours? It is the leaves themselves. Inside a leaf, there are millions of little colour
“bags”, they are green, yellow and orange. The green ones are called chlorophyll(葉綠素).The yellow ones are called xanthophylls(葉黃素). The orange ones are called carotene(胡蘿卜素).In summer, the green chlorophyll is very, very busy. It makes food for the trees. It catches sunlight to change water and carbon dioxide
(二氧化碳)into sugar. This sugar is the food for ther tree. It is so busy that it covers up all of the other colours in the leaf. When the weather grows colder in autumn, there is less light and water for trees. The trees will have a rest to get ready for winter. They've made enough food in summer! The leaves no longer need water to make food. Without the water, the green chlorophyll starts to go away. The other colours in the leaf-the yellow xanthophylls and orange carotene come out. So the leaves don't really
“turn”a certain colour. They just lose their green !But how about the red, purple and green leaves?
The leaves look red or purple because they have some sugar in them. They
“steal”some food from the tree! The green leaves are from the evergreen trees (常綠樹). The evergreen trees stay green all year long. Their leaves don't lose water in winter.Read the passage then choose True(T) or false (F).
