【題目】Compared with the earthquake in San Francisco of 1906, the one in Haiti of 2010 caused far_______ injuries.

A.seriousB.more seriousC.most seriousD.the most serious

【答案】B

【解析】

句意:與1906年舊金山地震相比,2010年海地地震造成的影響要嚴(yán)重得多。

考查形容詞。serious嚴(yán)重的;more serious更加嚴(yán)重;most serious最嚴(yán)重;the most serious最嚴(yán)重的。這里表示兩者作比較,far后會接形容詞的比較級,只有B選項(xiàng)是比較級,故選B。

In America, history is still a required subject at lower levels and students still choose to study it at higher levels. However, there is an ongoing discussion about whether schools should continue to teach History or whether they should spend the money on other subject. This article will deal with the arguments against and in favour of teaching History in school, concluding that we should teach History.

Many of my classmate suggest that History is one of the less interesting school subjects and that governments should spend the time and money on subjects that are more useful. They argue that Maths and English are more important so we can have a society with a good basic education. Others say that we should spend the money on teaching Science, as this can move a country forward and benefit the economy.

Yet, there are a number of reasons why it is a good idea to teach History. Teaching history is important because students should be able to understand the background to present situations in the news. This will create better-informed citizens. Another reason is that it helps pupils to understand their culture and background, which also helps them to understand the society they live in. In addition to learning about the past, History can help students to think for themselves. Finally, it also improves pupils’ reading and writing skills, which can help them become better students.

In conclusion, although there are clear arguments on both sides, it seems to me that we should teach children about the past because the value of the subject goes beyond the classroom. I would say that the teaching of History helps to create generations of well-educated and knowledgeable individuals.

【題目】閱讀短文,從所給的AB、C三個選項(xiàng)中選出最佳選項(xiàng)。

Artificial intelligence( 人工智能) is the ability of a computer or a machine. The computer or the machine with AI can think and learn. It is also a field of study that tries to make computers "smart". John McCarthy, a scientist, came up with the name "artificial intelligence " over 60 years ago. Many things such as learning and problem solving can be done by computers, though not in the same way as people do.

An unusual goal of AI research is to create special computer programs. They can learn, solve problems and think logically( 合乎邏輯地). At present, AI can successfully understand human speech, recognize( 識別) human faces, operate self-driving cars and compete in some game systems like playing chess. However, some people consider AI a danger to humans if it develops too quickly. A famous British scientist also was not for this kind of technology.

Math is the basic language of AI. If students are good at math, they will be more likely to become successful AI designers in the future. We need not only bright students but average(普通的) students. As for average students, if they get enough math skills, they can also become successful AI designers. Besides, a good knowledge of computer science is also necessary for AI designing.

Scientists hope to create creative and emotional(有情感的) AI. The AI can possibly understand human feelings or create art. Many ways and tools have been tried to discover this wide and exciting field.

1From paragraph 1, we know that_

A.all problems can be solved by computers

B.machines with AI can think and learn.

C.AI works the same way as people do

2According to the passage, what can't AI do at present?

A.Understand human speech.B.Compete in some game systems
