Do you like to eat sushi(壽司)? Many people are afraid to eat it, because they think the bacteria(細(xì)菌) in it might make them sick. However, a new study shows that sea bacteria are good for people. The study finds that a special enzyme() from sea bacteria is helpful to humans. It helps people to get more energy from food.

To people’s surprise, the enzyme is present only in the Japanese. The Japanese traditionally like to eat food rich in seaweed(海藻). And the seaweed is rich in this kind of enzyme.

However, the enzyme isn’t present in all the Japanese. During the study, just 5 out of 14 Japanese had the enzyme. All the Americans studied didn’t have the enzyme.

“The number is small,” said researcher Mirjam Czjzek. “But we can say that this enzyme is present only in the Japanese and not in the North Americans.”

Then some people think that maybe other people are able to get the enzyme if they eat a lot of seaweed. The study suggests that they collect uncooked seaweed to make their sushi.

Restaurant sushi is often cooked, which will destroy the enzyme. So, if you want to get that enzyme, you can travel to Japan to have a taste of the real sushi.

根據(jù)“Restaurant sushi is often cooked, which will destroy the enzyme”可知,飯店的壽司被加工之后就會(huì)破壞這種酶,故劃線(xiàn)部分destroy意為“破壞”與ruin同義。故選A。

根據(jù)第二段“The Japanese traditionally like to eat food rich in seaweed. And the seaweed is rich in this kind of enzyme”可知,日本人經(jīng)常吃富含這種酶的海藻,所以他們體內(nèi)有這種特殊的酶。

根據(jù)“The Japanese traditionally like to eat food rich in seaweed”可知,選項(xiàng)正確;B選項(xiàng):所有被研究的日本人都有這種特殊的酶。根據(jù)“the enzyme isn’t present in all the Japanese”可知,選項(xiàng)錯(cuò)誤;C選項(xiàng):所有被研究的北美人都沒(méi)有這種酶。根據(jù)“All the Americans studied didn’t have the enzyme”可知,選項(xiàng)正確;D選項(xiàng):這種酶幫助人們獲得更多的能量。根據(jù)“It helps people to get more energy from food”可知,選項(xiàng)正確。

根據(jù)第三段“During the study, just 5 out of 14 Japanese had the enzyme”可知,在研究中14個(gè)日本人中有5人有這種酶,5/14約等于35%。

根據(jù)第一段“The study finds that a special enzyme() from sea bacteria is helpful to humans”及全文內(nèi)容可知,本文主要圍繞一種特殊的酶展開(kāi),介紹了它的存在環(huán)境及對(duì)人體的作用,因此D選項(xiàng)“一種特殊的酶”可作為本文標(biāo)題。故選D。

Hundreds of years ago, life was harder than it is today. People didn’t have modern machines.

Life today has brought new problems. One of the biggest problems is pollution. Water pollution has made our rivers and lakes dirty. It kills our fish and pollutes our drinking water. Noise pollution makes us talk louder and become angry more easily. Air pollution is the most serious kind of pollution to all living things in the world.

Cars, planes and factories all pollute our air every day. Sometimes the polluted air is so thick that it is like a quilt (被狀物) over a city. This kind of quilt is called smog.

Many countries are making rules to fight against pollution. Factories must now clean their water before it is thrown away, and they mustn’t let dirty smoke go into the air.

We need to do many other things. We can put waste things in the dustbin and do not throw them on the ground. We can go to work by bus with our friends in the same car. If there are fewer people driving, there will be less pollution.

Rules are not enough. Every person must help to fight against pollution.
