【題目】The Rules of British Roads
British roads are some of the safest in the world. A study in 2018 compared more than 30 countries and found that 3.8 out of 100,000 died in traffic accidents in the UK.
This number was lower than any other country. So, what did British drivers do to achieve this? What are they doing differently? Here are some pieces of advice for drivers who are planning a trip to the UK.
◆People in Britain drive on the left side of the road. In fact, a long time ago people drove on the left in most countries, but now only a few countries have this. Don't forget that this also means you must drive the other way around roundabouts (環(huán)島).
◆British people feel that waiting should be fair for everybody. If you are in a line of traffic, then don't try to push past the cars in front of yours. This is called "jumping the line". You must wait for your turn; or people may get angry with you.
◆You must stop at the traffic lights when they are red. In many countries, it is OK to go past the red lights if you are turning a corner or if there isn't any other traffic around. In the UK you could have a lot of trouble if you do this.
◆If another driver flashes (閃爍) his car's lights at you, he is probably trying to tell you that he will wait for you to go first. British people don't like to use their car horn (喇叭) much because they think people who do so are rude.
◆If you get in an accident, don't try to pay the police. The police in the UK never take money, and if you try to offer them some, you could end your holiday visiting British prison(監(jiān)獄).

【題目】 What’s the best thing to eat on a hot summer day? Many people would say ice cream. Yes, eating ice cream with some fruit on top is a great way to cool down. But think before you eat. If your body is hot from playing sports, it’s not the best time to eat ice cream.
When your body is hot, a lot of ice cream may give your stomach some problems, and you could get diarrhea(腹瀉). You can eat some ice cream after you’ve cooled down a bit and had some tea. Just try not to eat too much all at once!

If you love fruit, summer is a great time for you. Go to the market and pick out the best fruit of the season. If you want to stay cool, oranges, bananas, pears and watermelons can help. Also, try to eat more ginger(姜) and gram(綠豆). They will help you stay cool and healthy.
In summer, bacteria grow very fast and make your food go bad quickly. Try hard to keep yourself and your home clean in summer. Always eat clean, fresh food. When you feel like eating a cold dish, put vinegar(醋) in it to kill bacteria. If you can’t finish your food and want to eat it again next day, make sure you heat it enough to kill the bacteria in it.
