【題目】Drivers must _______seat belts while their cars are running on the road.

A. dress B. in C. wear D. put on

【答案】C

【解析】句意:司機(jī)在路上開車一定要帶安全帶。dress……穿衣;in+顏色,表示穿著某種顏色的衣服。wear穿著,表示狀態(tài);put on穿上,表示動(dòng)作。根據(jù)while their cars are running on the road.可知此處表示開車的時(shí)候要保持帶著安全帶的狀態(tài),故用動(dòng)詞wear,故選C。

One of the most famous men has left us. Stan Lee passed away on Nov. 12 at the age of 95.

Lee is best known for being the man behind Marvel Comics. He was the company’s editor (編輯). Lee started his work in 1939. He led Marvel as it rose from a small company into a very big and famous one.

Of course, the heroes that Lee created made Marvel famous. He worked with several artists, such as Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, to create some famous superheroes such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man and so on.

He was inspired (激勵(lì)) to create these heroes in a number of ways. For example, for Iron Man, he planned to create a hero that nobody would like —but finally, most people like him. And for The Incredible Hulk, Lee’s artist friend Kirby said he was inspired by watching a man lift up a car to save a woman.

Lee never stopped working, even after leaving from Marvel. He appeared in many Marvel films. He often got a small part. In fact, he had already filmed some acts for the next Avengers film, which came out in 2019.

【題目】

Psychologists(心理學(xué)家) are interested in the reasons why some people like taking part in risky sports.

When they studied people who were learning to jump from a plane with a parachute, they found that the parachutists’ bodies produced large amounts of two hormones(激素), adrenaline(腎上腺素) and noradrenaline(去甲腎上腺素), just before they made their jump. These hormones help to prepare us for any sudden activity. Adrenaline increases the heart beat and provides more sugar for the muscles(肌肉), while noradrenaline makes us react(反應(yīng)) more quickly. However, noradrenaline also supplies energy to a part of the brain which controls feelings of pleasure. A feeling of pleasure caused by this hormone makes certain people want to take part in dangerous sports.

Another possible reason is the level of excitement in part of the brain. According to some psychologists, the brain tries to manage a certain level of excitement. They believe that people who have a low level of excitement look for new experiences in order to fire themselves with excitement, but people who usually have a high level of excitement try to avoid risks in order not to become overexcited. If the psychologists are right, people with a low excitement level are the ones who enjoy taking part in dangerous sports and activities.

It is thought that people with low levels of excitement have a slower-reacting nervous system than people with higher levels. So it may be possible to find out your level of excitement by testing your nervous system. A quick way of doing this is to put some lemon juice on your tongue(舌頭). If you produce a lot of saliva(唾液), your nervous system has been affected(影響) by the lemon and so you probably have a high level of excitement; if you produce little saliva, you probably have a low excitement level. If you have a low level, you might enjoy taking part in risky sports. However, this does not mean that you have to try parachuting!

1Did the parachutists’ bodies produce large amounts of adrenaline and noradrenaline before they made their jump?

_________________________

2What does adrenaline increase and provide?

_________________________

3Why do people with a high level of excitement try to avoid risks?

_________________________

4How can people find out their level of excitement?

5Who may enjoy taking part in risky activities?
