Carl Orff was born in Germany on July 19,1895.He began to show interest in music at an early age.He studied composing music at the Music Academy(學(xué)院) in Munich.After graduation in 1914,he became a professional musician and teacher.In 1920,he made his home in Munich and worked as a teacher and composer.He composed lots of songs,operas and orchestral music that were popular.

In 1924,Orff started a primary school in Munich.In this school,music was played together with the movement of dance and gymnastics.This special way of teaching music made the children hear and feel what music was.The instruments Orff used more than any others in his school were percussion instruments(打擊樂器).Orff did successfully,and many other schools began to follow him.After World War l],his ideas spread all over the world.The special way at this school even has an effect on primary musical education today.Many of his ideas can be found in the book called Music for Children

Carl Orff gave all his life to primary musical education,and he was most successful in it.On March 29,1982,he died.
