I’m happy to hear that you will come and stay in China for three months. Now let me tell you something about Chinese table manners.

First, in China the dishes are placed on the table and everybody shares. Second, if you are being treated by a Chinese host, you’ll taste many kinds of foods. Chinese people will do their best to show their hospitality. Third, sometimes the Chinese host uses his own chopsticks to put food in your bowl or plate. This is a sign of politeness. You are supposed to eat whatever it is and say how delicious it is. If you feel uncomfortable with this, you can just show your thanks politely and leave the food there.
