What will you do during a vacation? Visit famous places, shop or take photos? There is one thing you should never forget to do-send a postcard.
Postcards first appeared (出現(xiàn)) in October 1865 in the UK. By the 20th century (世紀), trains became a cheap and easy way to travel. More people went on holiday to the seaside. There were no cell phones, so they sent postcards to let others know they arrived safely. Those postcards usually showed seaside pictures, such as beaches or some seafood.
Today, most postcards feature (以……為特色) local scenic (風景的) photos or drawings. Others may be funny, with jokes on the front.
People usually write words to express that they miss someone on their postcards. It's common to end with "thinking of you." The most common postcard words are "wish you were here."
Modern postcards also celebrate British humor (幽默). They often make fun of British weather For example, some postcards show rain pouring down (傾瀉) on an empty beach. This humor keeps postcards popular in Britain.

【題目】閱讀下列短文,根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容選擇最佳答案.
Emojis(表情符號)
Have you found that more and more people are using emojis to communicate online? For example, "Happy Birthday" has become a cake with lit candles. And "I am happy" has become a smiling face.
Emojis have been warmly welcomed since they were invented in the 1990s in Japan. According to a survey of a mobile technology company, 6 billion emojis are used in text messages around the world every day. Last year, 20 percent of all emojis used in the UK and 17 percent of those used in the US was the icon . It became the most widely﹣used icon in 2015.
Emojis are now used as "a new form of expression", and one which can cross language barriers(障礙). "Emojis are popular among millennials, who were born between late 1980s and early 2000s, because they welcome new technology and new things and they think emojis are ‘flexible(靈活的)and show meanings beautifully'", president of Oxford Dictionaries told The Wall Street Joural.
Since millennials became the biggest part in the American workforce(勞動力), emojis have been more accepted in the workplace. For many people, the tiny pictures also show that the users are part of mainstream(主流) society. In the digital age, emojis are "how most people communicate and show their personality many times every day."
But not everyone thinks the use of emojis is a good thing. Jonathan Jones of The Guardian said that the success of emojis is "a step back for humans", hurting people's ability to use languages.
