How’s your relationship with your dad? It can be easy to let walls build up between you during the teen years. But by taking several simple steps, you can help improve the relationship between the two of you—even without great efforts. Here are a few quick tips.

Talk it out. Communication is the key to any friendship. Open your mouth and let your dad know what’s on your mind. Give him a chance to get to know you.

Listen up. Your dad’s lived more life than you have. Believe it or not, he’s probably been there and can help you get through the pressures and struggles. Ask how he dealt with school, girls or temptations (誘惑). Then pay attention.

Take some time. It can be hard for us kids to talk about what really matters. But spending time together can build the relationship, and create chances to talk. Go for a hike or a game. Work on the car. Whatever you’re into, ask your dad to do it together.

Fight fair. Family disagreements are unavoidable. When temperatures rise, keep your mouth respectful and cool off before you say something bad. Talk it out when you can do so calmly.

Realize respect. Face it: your dad’s been given authority (權威) to help guide you as you know. He’s going to make mistakes, but so are you. Forgive him when he blows it, and honor his decisions—even if you don’t agree.

根據(jù)第一段“How’s your relationship with your dad”和“by taking several simple steps, you can help improve the relationship between the two of you ”可知文章目的是為了給年輕人一些關于怎樣和父親相處給出建議。

根據(jù)第五段“fight fair”可知B選項“never fighting with fathers”表述錯誤;根據(jù)第五段“Family disagreements are unavoidable”可知C選項“disagreements can be avoided”表述錯誤;根據(jù)第五段“Talk it out when you can do so calmly”可知D選項“always keeping your mouth closed”表述錯誤。根據(jù)第三段“he’s probably been there and can help you get through the pressures and struggles. Ask how he dealt with school, girls or temptations”可知給父親機會讓他了解你,他能幫助你解決壓力度過難關,幫你處理學業(yè)、戀愛以及怎么應對誘惑的問題。 故選A

根據(jù)“cool off before you say something bad”在說不禮貌的話之前冷靜下來,可知此處指的是當矛盾變得更糟糕的時候。

第五題的A選項的“all”, B選項的“everything”D選項的“never”都太絕對,與文章內(nèi)容不符,可以直接排除。

My grandmother grew up in a world different from me. She experienced many things in her long life.

Though she never told stories, her stories were in the way she ate—she savored(品嘗) her food, cherished it. Often she would be the first to sit at the dinner table, and the last to leave. Food had been really scarce(缺乏的) when she grew up.

Her stories were in the way she handed me lucky money. From a young age, my grandmother was brought up to understand the importance of hard work and the necessity of saving. Every Chinese New Year, I would be handed, or sent a small red envelope that contained money, but never more than twenty yuan. When I was young, I didn’t understand why my grandmother gave me such a small amount of money. As I grew older, I realized that she wasn’t teaching me about money, but about tradition and hard work and family. The money was not the main point. I would probably spend it on any toy that I would lose soon after; it was the meaning behind her gift that mattered. It was her saying, “I love you; I am your family and I want you to work hard as your family has before you.”

My grandmother’s stories were lessons. But they were never told in words. From the time that I was very young, up until she could barely remember my name, I remember her calling me “good girl”. Those two little words, in the course of my growing up, were a constant reminder that I was still so young, with still so far to go.

Now my grandmother is gone, but I see her every day. I see her in the women around me and in the mirror. She lives with me, inside me, and in the legacies(遺產(chǎn)) that I will create. And I know she would be proud.

3What did the writer realize when hearing her grandmother call her “good girl”?

A.She was really a good girl.

B.She needed to keep improving herself.

C.She should be proud of her manners and behavior.

D.She was always a good girl in her grandmother’s eyes.

4What can we know about the writer’s grandmother after reading the passage?

A.She loved telling stories about the past.

B.She was poor throughout all her life.

C.She set a great example for the writer.

D.She was a mean woman with old-fashioned values.
