以-f或-fe結(jié)尾的可數(shù)名詞變?yōu)閺?fù)數(shù)名詞的方法是：先改-f或-fe為v，然后加上-es，又如：leaf(樹(shù)葉)變?yōu)閘eaves, life變?yōu)閘ives, thief變?yōu)閠hieves, wife變?yōu)閣ives, wolf變?yōu)閣olves等等；而knight是騎士、爵士的意思，在這里不合適；小刀和尺子一起用比較合適；陷阱是容易將knife當(dāng)成是以e結(jié)尾的名詞直接加s；這樣的詞比較少，需要單獨(dú)記憶．答題時(shí)同學(xué)們不要急于求成，想當(dāng)然地在knife后面加-s；而應(yīng)排除幾個(gè)以fe結(jié)尾的名詞．
另外，請(qǐng)大家記住不規(guī)則變化的名詞還有：foot→feet, man→men, woman→women, mouse→mice, tooth→teeth; child→children, ox→oxen；另有一些單復(fù)數(shù)是同形的：deer, sheep, fish, Chinese, Swiss等．這些名詞需要單獨(dú)強(qiáng)化記憶，加強(qiáng)練習(xí)．
