Have you ever read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland? It was written by Lewis Carroll. He was an English writer, poet, scientist and photographer (攝影師). His real name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, and Lewis Carroll was his pen name. He was born in 1832 and died in 1898.

The phrase “beat a call” is used to show support for people or things. It came from Japanese. It refers to a cheering dance performed by “otaku”, or people who are crazy about pop culture. In October, the Xinhua News Agency used the phrase in an article about the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (黨的十九大), which made the phrase even more popular.

The word “Laotie” comes from northern Chinese dialect (方言) and means “good friends”. “Pricked heart” used to mean “hurting someone’s feelings”. The phrase has been used often on video-streaming (視頻播放) websites. It is now used between close friends who jokingly complain about each other.
