【題目】閱讀下面的短文,然后根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答問題。

Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in Italy. He is best known as an artist today. One of his famous paintings is called Mona Lisa. However, Leonardo had many other natural abilities. He was also a great inventor. Many of his inventions have become important in modern daily life.

Although Leonardo hated war, he invented many different machines used for war. His most special invention was the machine gun, which was produced in war many years later.

Leonardo tried to find out the secret of flying, he watched the way birds fly. Among his sketches(素描) we can see many objects. We consider them as modern flying machines.

Leonardo spent many hours thinking about: How to make good use of time. He developed ideas for labor-saving machines like cutting machines.

Leonardo was a strange man. He didn't eat any meat, which was very unusual in those times. He never published his ideas and discoveries. He usually used mirror writing, which look like writing in the mirror starting from the right side of page and moving to the left.

We have very few of his works today. Leonardo finished only a few of his painting. He left many unfinished because he thought they were not perfect. No one in his life time knew how great Leonardo was. We now believe, however, that he was one of the cleverest men that the world has ever known.

【題目】 For several days I saw little of Mr. Rochester. In the morning he was busy with business, and in the afternoon gentlemen from the neighborhood called and hung out with him. All my knowledge of him was limited to occasional meetings around the house, when he would sometimes pass me coldly, and sometimes bow and smile. His changes of manner did not make me unhappy, because I saw that I had nothing to do with the cause of them.

One evening, several days later, I was invited to talk to Mr. Rochester after dinner. He was sitting in his armchair, and looked not so serious. There was a smile on his face, and his eyes were bright, probably with wine. As I was looking at him, he suddenly turned, and asked me, “Do you think I'm handsome, Miss Eyre?”

The answer went out from my tongue(舌頭) before I realized it: “No,sir.”

I continued to say,“Ah, you are really unusual! You are a quiet, serious little person, but you can be almost rude.” “Sir, I'm sorry. What I mean is that beauty doesn't matter, or something like that.”

Mr. Rochester said, “ No, you shouldn't! I see, you criticize (批評) my appearance, and then you stab(刺) me in the back! You have honesty and feeling. There are not many girls like you. You are very special. ”

He seemed to read my mind, and said quickly, “Yes, you’re right. I have plenty of faults. I went the wrong way when I was twenty one, and have never found the right road again. I was not a bad man, and believe me. It wasn't my character(性格),but circumstances(處境)that were to blame(責(zé)備). Hope you can understand me.”

“Don't be afraid of me, Miss Eyre,” he continued. “You don't relax or laugh very much , perhaps because of the effect Lowood school has had on you. But in time you will be more natural with me, and laugh, and speak freely. You're like a bird in a cage. When you get out of the cage, you'll fly very high. Good night."

1Why didn't Miss Eyre mind Mr. Rochester 's manner?

A.Because she thought she had nothing to do with it.

B.Because he often hung out with gentlemen.

C.Because he was very cold.

2The underlined word “occasional” in the first paragraph means“___________”.

A.經(jīng)常的B.偶爾的C.極少的

3Why did Mr. Rochester say“… and then you stab(刺) me in the back!" in Paragraph 5?

A.Because Miss Eyre planned to kill him with a knife.

B.Because Miss Eyre regretted having talked to him.

C.Because Miss Eyre said something else to correct what she had said before.

4Mr. Rochester told Miss Eyre something about his circumstances in order to ___________.

A.tell her all his troublesB.tell her his life experienceC.change her opinion of him

5According to the passage, which of the following is NOT true?

A.Miss Eyre didn't think Mr. Rochester was handsome when asked.

B.At last, Mr. Rochester encouraged Miss Eyre to laugh and relax.

C.Miss Eyre fell in love with Mr. Rochester.

【題目】閱讀下面的短文,從短文后的選項(xiàng)中選出能填人空白處的最佳選項(xiàng)補(bǔ)全短文。選項(xiàng)中有一項(xiàng)為多余選項(xiàng)。

China and Western countries may have different cultural beliefs about certain animals, but when it comes to pigs, we have somehow reached an agreement — pigs are ugly, lazy, stupid and shameless. Just look at some expressions in our languages. In Chinese, we have the saying of “Boiling a dead pig”, and “A pig looking in the mirror is still a pig”. And in English, there are expressions such as “eating like a pig” and “sweating like a pig”. 1. But the truth is that pigs do have some better qualities(品質(zhì)). And there's probably no better time to clear their names than now, with the arrival of the Year of the Pig on Chinese Spring Festival, which fell on Feb.5 this year.

2. According to a paper published in 2017 in the International Journal of comparative Psychology , pigs are “mentally(智力上) and socially similar to dogs and chimpanzees(黑猩猩)”. They like to play. They have good long-term memories. And they know the difference between those who don’t.

There are lovely pig characters in cartoons too. Peppa Pig, for example, a UK carton that began in 2004, has now become one of the most popular cartoon's in 180 countries and areas. The four members in the cartoon’s pig family teach children from all around the world about love, friendship, and the value of family. And in China, the adventures(冒險(xiǎn)) of McDull have been described in films since 2001. 3.

“People are paying too much attention to immediate(立即的) results and success. 4.” said McDull's creator Brian Tse, “He has a heart of gold,” Perhaps these are the qualities of pigs to keep in mind when we celebrate this Chinese New Year — their cleverness, cuteness, patience and innocence(純真).

A. To begin with, science long ago showed that pigs aren't stupid at all

B. Some people think pigs are smart, cute and patient

C. None of them has good meaning

D. They are about a pig who works hard toward his dreams even though he keeps failing

E. However, MeDull is slow and patient, and not afraid of repeated failures
