Is Started with a Bunch of Anthuriums
My first job out of high school was at a science research center. As a youngster, I was pretty worried by the administrative supervisor(行政主管). I wished I didn't have to pass her desk every morning. In the first month there, I don't think I ever saw her ______.
I am not sure what encouraged me but one day I decided to bring her flowers. They were bright red anthuriums. As soon as I walked into the office, ______ her the flowers. But then, came the most beautiful smile. It spread across her face slowly and it seemed that the room got a bit ______ too. I remembered my heart pounding out of my chest because I then realized I had certainly not seen her smile before. She ______ me for the flowers and did so every day for as long as the flowers lasted. From then on, she always greeted me with a smile.
Then, it became my ______ to make her smile every day. Some days I'd bring her something I baked, tell a funny story, or invite her to lunch with our colleagues. Then things_____. She began to smile more and talk to people, even when she didn't need to. She just seemed lighter.
Now you would think this ______ was about the administrative supervisor. It's not. It's about how it changed me. I used to be pretty shy but after that day with the anthuriums, I started coming out of my shell too and I learned to smile more. I began to see people ______, you know, actually " seeing" people by looking deeper rather than accepting the superficial(表面的).
That experience taught me a lesson for life:A loving act of kindness has a beautiful way of helping both the receiver and the giver in ways that we cannot imagine.

Mc Dangerous Food
Xiao Jing, a Beijing girl took home a cup of iced tea for her father after having supper at McDonald’s. But when the father happily started to drink his daughter’s gift, he found that there was a filter tip (過濾嘴) from a machine inside it. Xiao Jing and her father got a【1】.
This is not the first time that McDonald’s has let Chinese customers down. According to a CCTV program on World Consumer Rights Day (消費(fèi)者權(quán)益保護(hù)日) on March 15, a McDonald’s restaurant in Beijing sold chicken wings 90 minutes after they were c【2】. The company’s rules set a 30-minute limit. What’s more, some workers changed desserts’ expiration dates (保質(zhì)期) or e【3】 put them into a new bag or box to sell them again.
McDonald’s China wrote a l【4】 of apology on their official micro blog (微博) soon after the program. “McDonald’s China pays great attention to this. We will immediately look into this accident, deal with it seriously and take practical actions to apologize to consumers. We’ll try our best to p【5】 healthy and safe food,” it said.
The program also exposed (曝光) some other companies that went against consumers’ rights. For example, Carrefour sold normal chickens as more expensive free-range (散養(yǎng)的) ones, and China Telecom s【6】 junk text (垃圾文本) messages to users’ phones.
We all need to learn how to fight for our rights and interests. Here are some tips:
1Learn some of the differences between real and fake, fresh and overdue (過期的) products.
2 Get the invoices (發(fā)票) for all your goods and services.
3 If you find there’s a p【7】 with your goods, call 12315 or go to your local Consumer Association for help.
