If you put a buzzard(禿鷹) in a cage without a roof(頂棚), the bird will be a prisoner. Even though it can fly, it can’t fly through the open roof. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of 3 or 4 meters. Without space to run, he will not even try to fly, but will stay in his small jail(監(jiān)牢) for the rest of his life.
The ordinary bat that flies around at night cannot take off from the ground. If it is placed on the ground, all it can do is shuffle(穿梭) about helplessly. If it reaches a higher place, it will be able to throw itself into the air. Then it takes off quickly. But on flat ground, it will never fly.
A bee dropped into a cup will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but keeps trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will look for away where none exists, until it completely destroys itself.
In many ways, there are lots of people like the buzzard, the bat and the bee. They are struggling with all their problems and frustrations(挫折),not realizing that the answer is right there above them

It was the last day of final exams in a university. On the steps of one building, a group of engineering students were discussing the exam. On their faces was confidence . This was their last exam and then they would graduate. With all these four years of college behind them, they felt ready to go into the world.
The professor had said they could bring any book or note they wanted, but they could not talk to each other. They went into the classroom happily. The professor gave them the papers. They smiled when they found that there were only five questions.
Three hours passed and the professor began to collect the papers. The students no longer looked so confident . The professor faced the class. No one spoke. They just held papers in their hands.
The professor then asked, "How many of you finished all five questions?"
Not a hand was raised.
"How many answered four?"
Still no hand.
"Three? Two?"
The students looked worried in their seats.
"One, then?" Certainly somebody finished one.
However, nobody replied. The professor put down the papers. "That is just what I thought," he said. In the tenth grade, I began volunteering at a vet hospital in order to get experience for what I thought would be my future job. As it turned out, the experience I got at the hospital taught me the opposite: my future was not in vet medicine. However, there is one particular Saturday morning that taught me something maybe more important.
The hospital was in the middle of one of the poorer sections of the city and we often had people come in who could just only pay for the most basic treatments. This Saturday a man and his young son, who was probably about 7 years old, walked in with a small cat in a cardboard box. I remember the cat had an eye infection (感染) but the man could not afford to pay for the cost of the medicine in addition to the exam. When he asked where the nearest the animal shelter(庇護(hù)所) was, his son cried and started to argue with his father. Out of the blue, an older woman who was sitting in the waiting room stood up, walked up to the counter, and told the man that she would pay for anything that he could not afford. The man thanked her and the son got to keep a healthy cat.
I had always thought it was the right thing to help out a needy person, but it was only seen on TV or in movies. The woman in the vet’s office taught me that these things do happen in real life, and should happen more often. When I am hesitant (猶豫) to help someone who is in need, I remember that woman, and have the courage to do it. Sometimes other people follow

We all have our own ways of sharing our life experiences with others.
Photographers use cameras, artists use brushes, musicians use songs and writers use stories. Spencer Johnson's story Who Moved My Cheese? shows changes exist in(存在于) our life. Life changes and so we do. We must change ourselves to face the changing environment, or we will fail.
Just look at the cycle(循環(huán)) of the seasons. Trees bud(發(fā)芽) in spring and in summer their leaves turn green. In autumn, their leaves start to fall onto the ground. When winter arrives, there are no leaves on trees. Next spring the cycle begins again. Since we know there are cycles in nature, we can prepare for them. We know it is colder in winter and hotter in summer, so we can dress properly.
Since we accept the cycles of nature,we should also accept the changes in our life.
We can prepare ourselves for changes by becoming more flexible(靈活的). We can regard the changes in our life as chances. As we keep changing ourselves, we can keep up with the changes in our life

“The only thing holding you back is yourself. Never say never”, said a rising 17-year-old singer, Justin Bieber, who was just an ordinary boy in Canada a few years ago.
After the accident of falling from the 18th floor and lying in the snow for three hours, my hands were frozen and my spinal cord (脊髓)was seriously injured. All the doctors and professors in the famous hospitals in Beijing told me that there was little chance for my hands and my body to recover (康復(fù)).
After half a year of medical treatments and recovering exercises, I could not make any more progress for over a year. What was worse , I suffered a lot from depression (絕望). On top of this, I suffered from insomnia, making every minute of the night seem to last forever. Hopelessly, mom and I came back to my hometown, which is small town in Guangdong.
At that time, I thought that I would never be able to walk again. I would never love and be loved. I would never be able to earn even a penny. I would never be able to repay the kindness I got from my parents and many nice people. Life was meaningless.
Now two years has passed. My hands are 80% recovered. I can even type faster than a healthy person! Up to now, I have worked for a law firm as an interpreter for half a year already. Although I don’t earn as much as before, I am able to pay for the food and clothes I need. What’s more, I even have extra money to buy thanksgiving presents for my parents and my boyfriend. Through my blogs (博客) , many people get to know me and like me. I can bring happiness to them. I can help those who are still suffering from depression and the pain of illnesses by chatting with them….You see, I am living a meaningful life and I am happier than ever I could have dreamed.
So, my friends, never say never. As long as you are alive, there is always hope and possibilities. It is never too late to take action to realize your dreams.     (382 words)
