     Be as Good as Your Words Japanese Prime Minister (首相) Junichiro Koizumi on April 22 apologized (道歉)
for his country's past in the wars.

     He was talking to 100 Asian and African leaders at a meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia.

     Chinese Chairman Hu Jintao met Koizumi on April 23. Hu said China wanted to be friends with Japan. But he

     China and Japan are both important countries in the world .The two leaders agree a good friendship will be
good for both countries.
     The two countries sell a lot of goods to each other .Last year ,China overtook the US to become the biggest
trading partner (貿(mào)易伙伴) with Japan.
     Koizumi's apology is a good start. Now, it's important for Japan to match its words with action.

     New York State has passed the USA's first state law banning (禁止) motorists talking on cell phones.
The ban will begin on November l, although drivers caught using cell phones will be given only warnings
during the first month.
     First-time violators (違法者) will face a $100 fine. A second-time call for a $200 fine and every violation
after that will cost $500. At least a dozen localities have established (制定) bans, starting in 1999; and 40 states
have had bans proposed but not passed.
