Steve Jobs was famous for starting Apple Computers. In a speech to graduating students at Stanford University, Jobs told students about some of his life-changing experiences. Jobs believed these experiences helped him achieve success.
Jobs’s own mother was a college student. As a young mother, she felt unable to bring Jobs up so she put him up for adoption (領(lǐng)養(yǎng)). Jobs’s adopted parents were simple working-class people. When Jobs was 17, his parents used their savings to send him to college.
After six months of college, Jobs found he couldn’t see the value in it. He had no idea what he wanted to do with his life and no idea about how college was going to help him figure it out. And he was spending all of the money his parents had saved. So he decided to drop out (退學(xué)).
Jobs was lucky because he knew what he loved to do. He started Apple Computers in his parents’ garage (車庫) with a friend when he was 20. In just ten years, Apple grew into a $2 billion company. However in 1985, Jobs was fired (解雇) from the company. Jobs was surprised. He lost everything at once. He quickly realized that he still loved what he did, and over the next five years, he started two highly successful companies. Later, he worked for Apple again and lived every day as if it was his last.

Steve Jobs was famous for starting Apple Computers.
Jobs believed these experiences helped him achieve success.
Jobs’s own mother was a college student. As a young mother, she felt unable to bring Jobs up so she put him up for adoption可知,喬布斯的媽媽是一個(gè)大學(xué)生,很年輕,所以不能撫養(yǎng)他。這里考查了句型too+形容詞+to do sth.
When Jobs was 17, his parents used their savings to send him to college.
After six months of college, Jobs found he couldn’t see the value in it. He had no idea what he wanted to do with his life and no idea about how college was going to help him figure it out. And he was spending all of the money his parents had saved可知,喬布斯在大學(xué)里看不到未來的希望,而且還花光了父母攢的錢。
He started Apple Computers in his parents’ garage (車庫) with a friend when he was 20可知,喬布斯在20歲的時(shí)候,開創(chuàng)了蘋果電腦公司。
However in 1985, Jobs was fired (解雇) from the company可知,在1985年,他被公司解雇了,也就是他被迫離開了公司。force強(qiáng)迫,常用于句型force sb. to do sth.
He quickly realized that he still loved what he did, and over the next five years, he started two highly successful companies.
Later, he worked for Apple again and lived every day as if it was his last可知,后來他有為蘋果公司工作,也就是他又回到了蘋果公司。

What is a hurricane?
You may already know that hurricanes are storms that can cause devastating (毀滅性的) waves, wind, and rain. They happen during “Hurricane Season,” which is from June 1st until November 30th in the Atlantic Ocean and from May 15th until November 30th in the Pacific Ocean.
Types of Hurricanes
There are five types of hurricanes, which are based on wind speeds. The categories help people know how much damage a hurricane may cause because the greater the wind speed, the more dangerous the storm. For example, a Category 5 hurricane has winds over 155 miles per hour, which are strong enough to destroy the buildings along the shorelines completely.
Hurricane Dangers
When a hurricane happens together with heavy rainfall, there can be a devastating flood. The centre of a hurricane is called the eye. While most of a hurricane has dangerously strong winds, the eye is actually a calm area in the storm. When the eye of a hurricane passes over land, people might think that it’s over, but before long the wind and rain increase again as the second part of the hurricane moves through.
Hurricane Safety Tips
There is no way to stop a hurricane or make it change direction, so if you ever find yourself in the path of a hurricane, be sure to remember the following safety tips.
Be sure you have a radio, batteries, fresh drinking water, and enough food.
Tell neighbours, friends, and family members your emergency plans. Tell them where you’ll go if you need to leave your home.
If you live near the ocean, leave your home and travel to a safe place. You could stay with a friend or a family member, in a hotel/motel, or in an emergency shelter area.
Stay inside during the storm. You could be seriously injured if you go outside.
