If a person is invited to dinner at six thirty, the hostess expects him to be there at six-thirty, or not more than a few minutes late. 【題目】 When throwing away rubbish, do you know which bin it should go in? Have you ever noticed the differently-colored bins on the street?
Some of you might not be able to answer this question. However, it's actually quite important to know how to sort your waste. Not knowing how to sort waste can make it harder to save energy and protect the environment.
If you don’t sort your waste, all of it will go to a landfill and be buried(埋) together. These landfills can take up large areas of ground that could have been used for planting trees or crops. The electronic waste you throw away, such as batteries, can pollute the soil and groundwater. Other pieces of waste, like the metal part of a pen, can be used to make other things if they are properly recycled.
With this in mind, many cities in China have been running waste-sorting campaigns (活動(dòng))in recent years. For example, Shanghai announced in July that within three years, all of its residents (居民)should sort their waste into four groups: wet, recyclable, harmful and dry.
“Wet” waste is also known as household waste. “They are things you don't want but that pigs can eat,”Guangzhou Daily explained. Paper, metal, glass and other things that can be reused are recyclable waste.
Harmful waste includes things like medicine, batteries and fluorescent bulbs. Finally, any waste that's not wet, recyclable or harmful will go in the“dry waste”bin.
Many other Chinese cities, including Shenzhen, plan to use this method to sort their garbage. Now that you know this, perhaps you can do your part to protect the environment and encourage others to sort their waste.

【題目】 It is late at night, People in Cape Town, South Africa. line up to collect water from a spring (泉). One by one, they fill their plastic bottles. Each person can take up to 13 gallons (加侖). Policemen stand by to keep the rules. In a few months, that number will be cut in half.
Cape Town is a city of four million people. It is running out of water. For three years, the city has faced a drought. It is the worst in a century. Local reservoirs are mostly sand and dried earth. Officers are telling people to save water. Otherwise, the city will one day be forced to turn off the supply to homes and businesses. That day is being called Day Zero. At press time, Day Zero was expected to be June 4. But the date may change based on water levels in local reservoirs.
"There are a lot of people who have not realized the problem," said Shirley Curry. She waited at a spring to get her share of water. "Now they suddenly realize this is for real."
On Day Zero, each person's daily water supply will drop to about 6.5 gallons. (The average American uses 80 to 100 gallons of water per day.) Lines at the city's 200 water collection points will probably get even longer.
Some places will not be included in the cutoff. The water will keep running in hospitals and schools. It will stay on in poor areas, too. This is to prevent illness. Areas popular with tourists may also have water. More than 10 million people visit Cape Town each year. Tourism provides nearly 10% of South Africa's economy.
Across the city, people are making an effort to save water. They are taking 90-second showers. They are washing their clothes less often. Using tap water to wash cars or fill swimming pools is not allowed. Those caught using too much water are punished.
For some people, rationing ( 定量供應(yīng) ) now feels normal. Kelson da Cruz keeps one container of water near the shower. Another he uses for brushing his teeth and washing his face. He uses non-drinking water to flush the toilet.

【3】Which of the following is NOT a way to save tap water?
A.Taking shorter showers.B.Washing more clothes one time.
C.Filling swimming pools.D.Avoiding washing cars with tap water.

A.沖洗B.注滿C.清潔D.排放
【5】What is the passage mainly about?
A.The serious water shortage ( 短缺) in Cape Town.

C.The things that have caused the water problem in Cape Town.
