I don’t think it’s necessary to start/set out/ set off so early if we want to arrive at ten.

If we want to arrive at ten, I don’t think it’s necessary to start/set out set off so early.

6Tom borrowed a dictionary from me last month, but he hasn’t returned it(to me)so far/by now. /but he hasn't given it back( to me)so far/by now.

1幾個季節(jié)用how many seasons, 這里的there be 結構,在新加坡( Singapore)用介詞in,時態(tài)用一般現(xiàn)在時。 How many seasons are there in Singapore in a year?

How often are the/these flowers watered? How often will the flowers be watered? How often do the flowers need watering/need to be watered?

Football is more popular than tennis。but表示轉折,網(wǎng)球是我的最愛有兩種譯法tennis is my favorite(sport) / I like tennis best. Football is more popular than tennis, but tennis is my favorite(sport)./Football is more popular than tennis, but I like tennis best.

4別忘了告訴我don’t forget to tell me,在哪里用where,碰面用meet,本題為祈使句。 Mike, don’t forget to tell me where to meet.Mike, don’t forget to tell me where we’ll meet.

I don’t think it’s necessary to do sth. 我認為沒有必要做某事,這么早用so early,出發(fā)用start /set out/ set off表示。 I don’t think it necessary to start/set out/ set off so early if we want to arrive at ten.

If we want arrive at ten. I don't think it's necessary to start /set out/ set off so early.

I don’t think it’s necessary to start/set out/ set off so early if we want to arrive at ten.

If we want to arrive at ten, I don’t think it’s necessary to start/set out set off so early.

6向某人借用borrow…from…,上個月last month,歸還return togive … back to,到現(xiàn)在還沒歸還,說明時態(tài)用現(xiàn)在完成時。到現(xiàn)在so far/by now。 Tom borrowed a dictionary from me last month, but he hasn’t returned it(to me)so far/by now. /but he hasn't given it back( to me)so far/by now.

Once a king got two nice falcons(獵鷹) from his son. He had never seen such beautiful falcons

before. He loved them so much and he ordered the best falconer to train them to fly.

After several months, the king came to see how the training was going on. He found that one

falcon had already been able to fly high in the sky, while the other one was staying on the branch(樹枝) of a tree quietly without moving.

The king called all his falconers together and ordered them to try every way they could to make it fly. But none of them succeeded. One day, while the king was taking a walk in the forest,

an idea came to his mind. He decided to find someone who knew the natural environment well to

solve the problem. Then he sent for a farmer who lived in the forest into his palace to train it at once.

The next morning, the king saw the other falcon flying above in the sky freely. "It is unbelievable!" shouted the king. "How could you make it happen?"

The farmer replied, “It's very easy. I just cut off the branch where the falcon rested.”

It is always the same to humans. We all have "two flying wings in our hearts as well, but we often seem not to notice them and stay where we feel safe and comfortable. We won't realize we can fly so high and freely until the "branch" we are resting on breaks.

1Where did the king get the falcons?

2Why did the king ask the farmer to train the falcon?

3What did the farmer do to make the falcon fly?

4What do you think of the farmer?

5To reach high, can we stay where we feel safe and comfortable?

A bookstore chain “Popular Bookmall” introduced their special style of book distribution (分銷)in Shanghai back in November. This experimental store offers books at very low prices, and there is no staff to require customers to pay before taking books away. Sounds like a book lover’s paradise!

Popular Bookmall had already set up such a shop in Nanjing. The organizers of the Nanjing store report that it was a great success; enough customers voluntarily paid for their books. But most older “honesty stores” in China did not receive enough honest customers. For example, a self-service restaurant opened in Fujian province years ago. It allowed customers to pay whatever they chose, but about one-fifth of customers paid nothing. The organizers of the “honesty stores” say that their goal is to encourage people in China to remember how important honesty is.

Many Chinese are worried about dishonesty in China. Even at Popular Bookmall, not everybody chose to pay for their books. Is it a good way to solve it by law? Maybe not. We should listen to our conscience (良心). This has deep roots in Chinese culture. Confucius (孔夫子) taught Chinese to be conscientious and honest.

But there are also a great rational (理性的) reason for “honesty stores”: the more honest people there are in society, the more reasons we have to trust others. And if people trusted each other, they’d be more willing to share. For example, in a “sharing economy”, we do not have to think about saving or spending money all the time. We should try to help other people. In brief, society is built on trust, not only trade (商業(yè)).

1What is the special style of book distribution in “Popular Bookmall”?

______________________________________________________________________.

2“Popular Bookmall” in Nanjing was a great success, wasn’t it?

______________________________________________________________________.

3Why did organizers open many “honesty stores” in China?

4What are many Chinese worried about?

______________________________________________________________________.

5According to Confucius, how should we encourage ourselves to be honest?

______________________________________________________________________.

6What does the underlined part “society is built on trust, not only trade” try to tell us?

Do you know when restaurants were invented? The first restaurants were invented thousands of years ago. However, they were very different from restaurants today.

The first restaurants were in ancient Greece and ancient Rome. These restaurants served food in large stone bowls. People didn't order food from a menu. Everyone used to share the food from big bowls. People believe that these places were very popular because most homes in ancient Greece and Rome did not have kitchens.
