【題目】 I was telling my boy Sonny the story of the hare and the tortoise. At the end I said, " Son, remember: Be slow and steady ( 鎮(zhèn)定的), and that will win the race. Don't you think there's something to learn from the tortoise?"

Sonny opened his eyes wide, "Do you mean next time when I'm entering for the 60-metre race I should wish that Billy, Tony and Sandy would all fall asleep halfway?"

I was shocked, "But the tortoise didn't wish that the hare would fall asleep!"

"He must have wished that," Sonny said, "Otherwise how could he be so foolish as to race with the hare? He knew very well the hare ran a hundred times faster than he himself did."

"He didn't have such a wish," I insisted. "He won the race by perseverance, by pushing on steadily."

Sonny thought a while. "That's a lie," he said. "He won it because he was lucky. If the hare hadn't happened to fall asleep, the tortoise would never have won the race. He could be as steady as you like, or a hundred times steadier, but he'd never have won the race. That's for sure."

I gave up. Today's children are not like what we used to be. They're just hopeless.

本文是一篇記敘文,主要講述了一位父親和兒子關(guān)于龜兔賽跑的辯論。在文中,兒子的觀點和父親的完全不一樣了,說明兩代人的思想上有了代溝。

1詞義理解題。根據(jù)本句“…by pushing on steadily.”……穩(wěn)步前進?梢酝茰y,烏龜贏得比賽依靠穩(wěn)步前進,所以是堅韌不拔的,故選C。

2細節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)“He must have wished that,”Sonny said,“Otherwise how could he be so foolish as to race with the hare?”Sonny說:“他一定有那樣的期望,否則他不會蠢到跟兔子賽跑.”可知Sonny認為烏龜是期望兔子在路上睡覺的.故選C。

3細節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)“He won it because he was lucky. If the hare hadn't happened to fall asleep, the tortoise would never have won the race.”他贏了比賽是運氣好.如果兔子不在半道上睡覺,烏龜是不會贏的.可知Sonny認為烏龜贏得比賽是因為運氣好.故選B

Every living thing on our planet depends on another for survival (生存). 1 and influence each other and the environments in which they live in. Humans, of course, are a part of this web of life and we depend on it just like everything else does. 2 because they’re needed in order to help crops grow and fungi (真菌) are needed in order to keep the soil healthy. And from the natural world we get the fresh water that we drink and the medicine that we take when we’re ill and we get some pretty amazing views as well.

Now losing one species, that might not seem like a lot. 3 If something happens to one species, then it weakens the others because there’ s a knock on effect (連鎖效應(yīng)). Imagine if you will, like a house, and someone takes a brick out of the house. It leaves the wall pretty weak. 4 So that’s why nature’s crisis is one for humans too.

A. If more bricks were to disappear, the whole thing would come falling down.

B. Around the world, different species (物種) live with each other,

C. Plants produce the oxygen we breathe and bees and other pollinators (傳粉者),

D. But because everything is so connected, actually, it is a big deal.
