Tourists in space Man has been traveling into space for more than 40 years. Even today though, very few people get the chance to be an astronaut, about 30 per year. This is why American businessman Dennis Tito paid 20,000,000 US dollars to the Russian space agency to go into space. He visited the International Space Station.
