【題目】People drink alcohol(酒) in many parts of the world. Some medical scientists say light drinking may even be good for your health, especially for the heart. But they say such health benefits(好處) should be compared to the many health risks connected with alcohol use.
Some research suggests that having one to two drinks of alcohol a day may be good for your health. Several large studies have shown that this type of drinking may lower the risk of heart disease and other diseases.
A study last year suggested that drinking a little red wine may help lower the risk of breast cancer(乳腺癌) in women. Researchers at Medical Center in California studied 36 women. Each woman drank a glass of red or white wine every day for almost a month. Researchers collected blood samples(樣本) from the women two times a month to test their hormone(激素) levels. The next month these women were told to exchange their wine. The researchers found that the women who drank red wine had lower levels of the female hormone than the white wine drinkers. They said red grapes have chemicals that may help to lower the risk of breast cancer.
However, recent studies suggested that even a little alcohol may generally increase the risk of breast cancer in women. They found that women who drink four small glasses of wine a week increase their risk of breast cancer by 15 percent.
Many studies have examined the harmful effects of alcohol use on the body. Alicia Ann Kowalchuk serves as medical director, saying “Healthy use for adults --- that's men under age 65 --- is no more than 4 drinks in a day and no more than 14 drinks in a week. And for women of all ages, it's no more than 7 drinks in a week and no more than 2 drinks in a day.” She says too much alcohol use has something to do with liver (肝臟) diseases, and many other cancers.

【題目】All living things need energy to live and grow. This energy comes first from the sun. Plants use water and sunlight to make their own food. Animals can not make their own food, and they eat plants. Other animals then eat the plant eaters.
A food chain shows what eats what. It might show that zebras eat grass and then lions eat zebras.
Lions also eat other animals. Zebras eat other kinds of plants. So it takes more than one food chain to show how lions and zebras get their energy.
A food web shows how food chains work together. From it we can see how energy moves from plants to animals.
Plants and animals that live in hot, dry deserts depend on water as well as food. Creosote bushes have small leaves that hold water. Their seeds provide food and water for kangaroo rats. Kangaroo rats don’t need to drink water. They get all the water they need from the plants they eat. Kangaroo rats keep cool by coming out only at night to look for food. Ringtail cats also come out only at night. Ringtail cats hunt and eat kangaroo rats. Coyotes eat both the kangaroo rats and the ringtail cats.
Nothing is wasted in a food wed. Vultures eat dead animals. Vultures are scavengers. Scavengers do not hunt and kill other animals to get food. They eat animals that are already dead. When a ringtail cat or a coyote dies, it makes a meal for the vultures. Scavengers do an important job in keeping the environment clean.
【1】Where does the energy that living things need first come from?
A. Animals. B. Plants. C. The sun. D. Plant eaters.
【2】Why do ringtail cats come out only at night?
A. Because they are afraid of coyotes. B. Because they are shy animals.
C. Because it is very hot in the daytime. D. Because they can eat kangaroo rats.
【3】What kind of animal can be placed in the empty box of the picture?
A. Kangaroo. B. Vulture. C. Cat. D. Zebra.
【4】Which of the following is NOT TRUE according to the passage?
A. Lions eat different kinds of animals. B. Plants are on the top of the food chain.
C. Scavengers can keep the environment clean. D. Some animals get water from the plants they eat.
【5】What’s the best title of the passage?
A. Web of life B. Things that we eat
C. Food in the desert D. The place where food is from

Many people use their mobile phones as an alarm clock and more are used to returning messages before sleeping. However. these habits are becoming sleeping problems.
Several years ago, my boss used to stay up working on her mobile phone and got badly ill because of that. Now she always leaves her phone in another room at night. And she encourages friends to do so. “I sent each of my friends the same Christmas gift—an alarm clock so that they could stop using their phones as the alarm clock,” she said.

And according to a Swedish study, more than half of young people feel like there must be phones around them. Most of them feel sorry for not returning messages. So they even have to reply to their friends before sleeping.
So what kind of people prefer to use mobile phones in their bedrooms? A recent study has shown that threequarter of people aged between 18 and 34 prefer to sleep with their phones near them.
