【答案】Happiness is important in our life. In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it.
I will never forget one thing. Once, I had a bad mark at a math test. I was shy and afraid to meet my parents. But when I got back home late, my parents knew what happened, they said to me: “It doesn’t matter, my child. Remember we’ll be always beside you when you need help. We believe you can be better next time. Never give up!” I was moved and made up my mind to work harder and harder.
I feel happy. Whenever I am in trouble, I can feel my parents’ love. I want to be a good child for my parents.

【題目】 You probably enjoy visiting the zoo, but at one time people visited a zoological garden. Zoo is short for zoological garden. When a word has been shortened, it is called a clip. For example, a ref is a short form of the word referee. Over time, many words in English have been clipped. Perhaps you go to and back from school on a bus. Students traveled on an omnibus in the past. Math and exams are short for mathematics and examinations. A mike is a short form of a microphone. Something that is a curio was once a curiosity.
When you visit a zoological garden, you may see "rhinos" if you are lucky enough. This animal certainly has a big nose ﹣﹣ in the Greek language, "rhinos" means "nose". In English, a rhino is the same as a rhinoceros. Other words have rhinos in them, too. A rhinovirus might affect your nose. This virus is what people get when they have a cold. When you have diseases in the nose, you must see a rhinologist, who can treat you.
But on the other hand, some words are really combinations(結(jié)合體)of two or more words. The new words are called blends. The meaning of a blend shows the meanings of both words it comes from. For example, the words smoke and fog blend to make smog. Do you know what motor and hotel make when combined? You're right ﹣ it's motel. Which two words do you think brunch comes from?
【1】Which of the following is a clip?
A. Examination.
B. Referee.
C. Curio.
D. Motel.
【2】Which of the following is a doctor?
A. Rhinos.
B. Zoological.
C. Rhinovirus.
D. Rhinologist.
【3】What does the underlined word "brunch" mean?
A. 早午餐
B. 長板凳
C. 大樹枝
D. 淺海灘
【4】What can you conclude from the passage?
A. It is hard to learn clipped words.
B. Riding on an omnibus was not safe.
C. Clips are easier to pronounce and spell.
D. People don't like to use short words.
【5】What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?

B. Learning about blends.
C. How motel got its meaning.
D. Forming combined words.

It was early one hot morning in 2015 when I was gently wheeled across our quiet street in my wheelchair to the taxi stand with my mother. Three weeks earlier, I had hurt my left leg at home. Now I f【1】 had an appointment(預(yù)約) for an operation to repair the bad break in hospital.

【題目】 On school nights, lots of kids have to do their reading before they are allowed to watch TV. Pretty soon, you might get to do both at the same time, in true Harry Potter style.
Several companies are racing to produce electronic paper and ink, complete with colors and moving imagines (圖像). One idea would be to create a newspaper like The Daily Project in the Harry Potter books. Its pages would hold video clips of baseball games instead of just black-and-white photos.
Electronic paper is not a new idea. A company in Massachusetts called E ink, for example, has been working for years on such a technology. Little electricity determines (決定) whether each microsphere (微球體) looks black or white at any given time. Together, microspheres make up words and imagines. The techniques seems promising for creating still imagines that can be changed when needed, but the process (進程) is too slow for high-quality videos.
Scientists in Holland now report a new type of e-paper technology—by using layers (層) of oil. They can make images which change fast enough to meet standard video requirements. They can also make brilliant colors. So far, however, each image is smaller than the fingernail.
For now, reading and watching TV will have to return two separate activities. Keep your eyes open, though—in the future, TV watching and reading might be part of the same work.
