【題目】

Where did you go this summer vacation? Perhaps you have visited some top universities in China or outside China. If so, you are not alone.

This summer, groups of tourists from all over China traveled to famous universities like Tsinghua University (大學), Peking University and Fudan University. Tsinghua University received 6,000 visitors a day, said China Youth Daily. Most of them were high school students with their parents.

With more and more visitors, it took many hours to come into the universities.

“Tsinghua University opens to the public at 8:30 am,” a guard (保安) told China Youth Daily. “However, many people start to wait in line at 3 to 4 am because people who come at 6 o’clock may be too late and can only come in in the afternoon.”

This is not only for Chinese universities. Oxford in Britain and Harvard in the United States are facing the same problem. In summer, bicycle paths of Oxford were full of tour buses, which were parked illegally (違規(guī)). The pavements (人行道) were also full of Chinese tourists.

“University tourism” is popular because of the long histories and unique cultures(獨特的文化)of these famous universities. More importantly, many parents hope their children will go into a top university in the future, said People’s Daily.

“I brought my son here to see what top universities look like,” a mother of a 14-year-old boy told China Daily. She hoped her son could learn something from the trip and study harder after that.

【題目】 閱讀短文,將方框里的五個句子還原到短文當中。

My name is Jerry Zhang, and I am a father of two young daughters — one is about four years old and the other is only about one. I come from China and now live in the USA.

One day, my older daughter, Madison, told me she didn’t want to be Chinese.1 She kept asking me why she was Chinese and they weren’t, and how she could have blonde or red hair like them.

2 However, I only found a few, and they were heavily cultural, and Madison didn’t connect (……聯(lián)系起來) herself with any of the characters in the books.3 Then she told me again that she didn’t want to be Chinese, and it broke my heart.

4 Few of them have Asian (亞洲的) faces, although there are over 17 million Asians and Asian Americans in this country. I think it’s important for Asian children to see themselves in books as interesting and smart kids.

So I created (創(chuàng)作) a book for Madison. 5 Her imagination (想象) takes her on a trip to creativity and art! I want my children to know that being Chinese or being Asian is a great thing, too.
