Is Goodies good? 7:02 P.M. 12/26

Does anyone know about Goodies next to the MadEye Theater? I want to go there with friends this Saturday. Thanks!

RE: Is Goodies good? 7:30 P.M. 12/26

My dad took me there yesterday. I don't know if it's expensive. He paid. The food was fine, not the best, though. But you must try its papaya(木瓜) icecream. I just can't get enough of it!

RE: Is Goodies good? 8:11 P.M. 12/26

Its food is good but its waiters are not. For that price, I think you should go to Awe's. It's a little far from the theater, but the waiters there are friendly, and the food is wonderful.

【題目】

Basketball is popular all over the world. But in Australia, people like to play netball(無擋板籃球), too. It is one of the most popular sports in Australia. The players are often girls. The sport is like basketball, but its rules are a little different. If a player gets the ball, she will only hold it for three seconds before shooting(投籃) or passing it to her teammates. There are seven players in each team. Each player has her own area to move in.

Girls at my school love the sport. We often had netball games this term. Something happened this month touched me deeply.

I was the defender(后衛(wèi)). My job was toblockthe attacker(主攻手) from the other team. At the beginning, I wanted to win so much that I almost forgot my job. And it gave the other team a chance to get and pass the ball. During the break, our team leader gave me a serious talk, “If you really want to win, you should work with your teammates.”

And I did. In the second half of the game, I always stood in front of the attacker from the other team to block her sight. As a result, she missed the best time to attack. Our teammates got great long shots in. The score was 143 in the end. We won!

The game made me know the importance of teamwork and team spirit(精神). If everybody does what he or she likes and doesn't care about the whole team, the team will not work well.

1As for the netball, the passage tells us that ________.

A. Australian people don't like to play netball

B. it's more popular among boys than girls

C. playing netball is much like playing basketball

D. each team needs five players on the field

2The underlined word “block” in Para.3 means ________.

A. stop, B. catch, C. help, D. serve

3What did the writer do wrong in the first half of the game?

A. She didn't see the ball coming her way.

B. She missed the chance to get the ball.

C. She passed the ball to the other team.

D. She forgot to do her own job well.

4What did the writer learn from that game?

A. Pay full attention and do your job well.

B. Working as a team is important in games.

C. Don't be afraid to get hurt during a game.

D. Losing a game is not losing face.

5In which part of a newspaper can we most probably read the passage?

A. News., B. Holidays., C. Sports., D. Cultures.

【題目】

Where did you go this summer vacation? Perhaps you have visited some top universities in China or outside China. If so, you are not alone.

This summer, groups of tourists from all over China traveled to famous universities like Tsinghua University (大學), Peking University and Fudan University. Tsinghua University received 6,000 visitors a day, said China Youth Daily. Most of them were high school students with their parents.

With more and more visitors, it took many hours to come into the universities.

“Tsinghua University opens to the public at 8:30 am,” a guard (保安) told China Youth Daily. “However, many people start to wait in line at 3 to 4 am because people who come at 6 o’clock may be too late and can only come in in the afternoon.”

This is not only for Chinese universities. Oxford in Britain and Harvard in the United States are facing the same problem. In summer, bicycle paths of Oxford were full of tour buses, which were parked illegally (違規(guī)). The pavements (人行道) were also full of Chinese tourists.

“University tourism” is popular because of the long histories and unique cultures(獨特的文化)of these famous universities. More importantly, many parents hope their children will go into a top university in the future, said People’s Daily.

“I brought my son here to see what top universities look like,” a mother of a 14-year-old boy told China Daily. She hoped her son could learn something from the trip and study harder after that.

1What can we learn from Paragraph 2 in this passage?

A. Tourists from all over the world came to China this summer.

B. Most high school students would visit top universities.

C. Tsinghua University is still the most popular one.

D. Famous universities have become popular places for tourists.

2According to the guard, many people start to wait in line at 3 to 4 am because .

A. they hope to enter the university early

B. they want to spend more time taking pictures

C. Tsinghua University opens at 4:30 am

D. the university is not open to tourists in the afternoon

3What same problem does Oxford face as Chinese universities?

A. Tour buses are always parked against the rules.

B. College students don’t have enough space to study.

C. The school becomes dirty during the summer holiday.

D. More and more tourists visit Oxford in summer holiday.

4Why is “university tourism” so popular among families?

A. Because top universities are usually very beautiful.

B. Because parents hope their children will study at top universities.

C. Because parents want to remember their own college lives again.

D. Because today’s kids pay more attention to the universities’ history and culture.
