Joy’s family went ___1___church for the Christmas Eve service的結(jié)構(gòu)可知,在wentchurch之間少了一個表示方向的介詞,因此用to來表示去的方向。

分析句子___3___ (tear) started to run down her cheeks but she brushed them away.

Joy was thinking ways to help Nick. That night, while everyone else ___4___ (sleep) like a baby, 也用過去進行時;其結(jié)構(gòu)是:was/were+動詞的現(xiàn)在分詞構(gòu)成。

As soon as she heard her parents get up, she ___5___ (quick) jumped out of bed.

Are cell phones making the human stupid? According to a new study out of Britain, the answer is “yes”. Cell phones are reducing the human power and we can see it from the numbers.

Professor Ian Robertson of Trinity College Dublin carried out the study. His research found that most people in Britain have to remember five passwords(密碼), five pin numbers, two number plates, three security ID numbers, and three bank account numbers — quite a lot to just get through the daily life! To get around this, most people use only one or two passwords. Cell phones, laptops, and other memory machines offer a way to all the numbers and passwords that the common people have to remember. As a result, people don’t use their memories.

The study found that one quarter of all Britons couldn’t give their home phone numbers when asked. What’s more, only a third of those could remember more than three birthdays of their family members.

The study divided the numbers into age groups, providing some clear results. About one third under the age of 30 couldn’t remember their home phone numbers without using to a cell phone or other machines. In the same age group, only 40% could provide important dates, such as birthdays, for family members. For those over 50, 87% could remember details(細節(jié)) on family. The study also found that 58% wrongly believed it impossible to remember most of the numbers and passwords they use every day.

1Which of the following problems is Robertson most worried about?

A. Wasting much time on cell phones.B. Facing many information problems.

C. Remembering too many numbers every day.D. Depending too much on cell phones for memory.

2What does the writer most probably agree with?

A. Memory improves as people age.B. Memory becomes poorer if used less.

C. Too many passwords lead to memory loss.D. It’s impossible to remember most passwords.

3What is the main idea of the text?

A. Cell phones have changed people’s life.B. Cell phones should be used less often in daily life.

The way we spend our time can be divided into three groups, or “jars”. These would be the necessary tasks jar, the voluntary tasks jar and the happiness jar.

Every day, we spend time filling the necessary tasks jar. We fill this jar with useful things, like making money, housework, buying food and paying bills. We then fill another jar with voluntary tasks. These are things that we do for others, but we may not enjoy them. This jar is filled with tasks like taking children to activities and cooking family meals. Those jars are very important. If we don’t fill them each day, our family won’t run properly.

However, we often forget to fill the third jar --- the happiness jar. This is the jar that we fill with activities that make us happy. Is your happiness jar sometimes empty at the end of the day? We all have days like that. Between doing all the necessary and voluntary tasks, time flies by on some days, and before we know it, it is time for bed.

That is why each day we try to fill our happiness jar. Most days, I fill mine by going to the ballroom dance(社交舞) class with my husband and daughter. Between the music, the dancing and the friendship among the students, I always leave classes happier than when I entered.

Music is another way that I fill my happiness jar. This week, I was happy to take part in an orchestra(管弦樂隊) practice at my church(教堂). A small group of us met to practice Christmas music for a church service. It was a time of fun, friendship and music making. At the end of the evening, my happiness jar was full.

This week, consider how your time is spent. Are you doing enough activities that bring joy to your life? Or are the necessary and voluntary tasks eating up all your time? Try to find ways to achieve a balance between how you are filling your three jars. At the end of the day, hopefully we’ve done all we can to make sure that our happiness jar is filled.

1From the first three paragraph, we can infer(推斷) that ____________.
