a后接可數(shù)名詞單數(shù),根據(jù)下文的for an interview“面試”可知此處表示工作,用job表示。故選A。
the后接名詞,根據(jù)for an interview可知此處表示“面試的機(jī)會(huì)”。
根據(jù)“The answer was simple.”
故選A。

Promise me I’ll die in my own bed and I won’t die alone.”
There it was. Almost three years ago Dad asked me to make those promises. I said yes. And yet, I broke both. I gazed at my two-year-old son. Today is his birthday.
“Promise me...” The voice came from the grave(墳?zāi)?/span>). Or was it simply my own guilt(內(nèi)疚) ridden imagination? Whichever, I wished it would leave me alone and let me enjoy my son’s birthday.
Over two years ago, I broke my first promise. But what else could I have done? The battle(戰(zhàn)斗) against his cancer was lost. All that was left was to keep him comfortable and manage his pain. My sisters and I decided his remaining days would be in a hospital. Determined to keep the other promise, I made sure he was never alone. And then came that day.
It was early morning. I was alone with Dad, waiting for my sisters to come and spare me. I heard my dad’s breath, his only voice for over a week, when my phone rang. The baby was coming. A nurse directed me to see my wife, two floors up. Yes, everything was fine. “Shall I show you to the family waiting room?” I refused, thanking the nurse as I headed down the stairs. But too late. I broke my second promise. Dad had died alone. Joy, guilt. My son and my broken promise.
The voice came again. I cried, head buried in my hands. I felt two little but strong hands, pulling my own hands away from my face. “Grandpapa!” My son shouted while leading me into the living room and pointed to a drawer in the desk. I opened the drawer and took out the picture—my dad’s.
How had he known about that photo? How did he know it was his grandfather? I had never taken it out of the drawer since shortly after my dad’s death. A new life entering the world exactly the moment an old one leaves. Could these two lives have somehow passed each other, maybe even knew each other? Perhaps Dad didn’t die alone after all.

Writing text messages while walking is dangerous. A study says it is more dangerous than texting while driving. Researchers found that there are more injuries(傷害)to texting walkers than there are to texting drivers. Their report says walking is not as easy as we think. We must focus on(專注)many things at the same time to walk safely in a straight line. The researchers said that people forget how to walk properly, so dangerous things happen to them. They run into walls and other people. They walk into cars, fall over things in the street, and even fall into holes or downstairs.
A professor said walking is a difficult action. There are several reasons why texting makes walking dangerous. One is that people cannot see the street. Another is that they are focusing on their phones instead of their feet. A final reason is that their minds are somewhere else—they are not thinking about walking from A to B safely. The professor said over 6,000 people visited his hospital last year because of texting. He said the worst cases are head injuries. When a walker is tossed(拋) into the air he or she has nothing to protect the head. The damage(損害) can be serious.
