That was the sun was shining on it. The children who lived in a city had no wider place to play. They had to play in a little garden before the house.

The garden was divided by a white fence from the street and overshadowed (籠罩) by a pear tree and two or three apple trees. Some rose bushes were in front of the windows of the living room. The trees, however, were now leafless, and their twigs (枝條) were covered in the light snow. This made a kind of wintry leaves.
